It's not an experiment and has been available on many channels for years and is intended for viewers with visual impairments who cannot see what is happening on screen.

kevin hicks: Does the TV have a Freeview HD (DVB-T2) tuner? Full HD only refers to the screen resolution, not the type of tuner required to received HD channels on UK Freeview. If you're not sure, either post the model number or check the specifications in the manual or on LG's website.

Neil Jenkins: No, there aren't. Those channels are broadcast on the COM7 and COM8 multiplexes which are temporary services covering around 75% of the population from 30 transmitters and are expected to close in 2020.

Jane Calahan: The BBC only have control over the satellite coverage of their own channels, they have nothing to do with coverage restrictions for any other broadcaster (none of the channels you listed have anything to do with the BBC). UK broadcasters have had to restrict their coverage in order to make their channels available free to air so that they can be viewed without a Sky box and viewing card. The only channels who have been required to do this are the PSB channels (BBC1, BBC2, ITV/STV, Channel 4, S4C & Channel 5). It has been the choice of the broadcasters to restrict coverage of other channels in order to make them available free to air to UK viewers.
Your best option would be to consult a satellite installer who has experience of installing satellite systems for reception of UK channels in your area, as they will know what is possible and what size dish would be required etc. Some channels, such as Euronews and France 24 are also broadcast on other satellites which are more easily receivable across Europe. Alternatively, there are various internet services which can aid the reception of UK TV channels overseas via VPN etc, however that would be into the realms of questionable legality.

Jean Ward: Pick is on the list of channels which are required to provide subtitles (see link below), so it would be worth contacting the broadcaster (Pick is owned by Sky) and asking them.

A. Collins: Please provide a full postcode so we can see which transmitters cover your area, where you are in relation to them and whether any of them have any reported faults or engineering work. Also, which stations have your tried? Have you tried selecting any other national or local stations?

J. Edmond: There are no faults showing for Durris and your coverage prediction shows that you're just 9km away and should have excellent signal for all channels. Therefore the problem is most likely at your end, start by checking all the cables and connections behind the TV, looking for anything loose or damaged, then work your way back towards the aerial as far as you can safely access.

Margaret Close: Have you reconnected the lead coming from the aerial on the roof to RF IN on the Sky box? You should then be able to connect another lead from RF1 on the Sky box to the aerial socket on the back of your TV.

Ralph Morris: Rather than anything happening at Llandonna, you were more likely experiencing lift conditions which allowed you to receive one of the transmitters in Northern Ireland at a higher strength than would be available under normal reception conditions. Retuning whilst this is happening isn't recommended as it can result in your TV retuning to the wrong transmitter as you have experienced.
