Switchover starts in the East Midlands

I have recently purchased two Freeview HD boxes. They are both connected to the same ariel however the SHARP box is picking up all the HD channels but the GRUNDIG box isnt ??? (Even tho the Waltham transmitter does not switchover until 31st August 2011. ) My post code is NG13 OHA. The back of both boxes is exactly the same so i'm guessing they are just branded boxes. Do you think the SHARP is picking up the HD signal from another transmitter (ie Not Waltham ??

I have a Sharp TUT2 HD box which seems to pick up BBC Look North (on Channel 1) instead of BBC East Midlands (this appears on channel 800??). I live about 5 miles away from the Waltham Transmitter

Any help to rectify this would be appreciated.

raymond Bell: Sorted it !! Thanks JB38 for your response. I noticed that if I only scanned for a short period and then cancelled the scan then it had picked up the channels i didnt want so .... in the end I re-scanned but without the aerial connected until the scan was 8% completed. I then connected the aerial for the remainder of the scan and it worked !!!

Waltham (Leicestershire, England) Full Freeview transmitter

I am slowly but surely getting my digital setup as required with the considerable help of this site. My latest problem is with the tv in my kitchen which is connected to a Goodmans digibox. The box will not pick up SKY news (UHF 56) I have tried moving the box upstairs and scanning and it picks up the channels ok (albeit the signal is only 16% strong) When i move the box back downstairs the channel is still there but no picture and signal strenth 0%) Is it because of the length of the aerial cable (prob 8 to 10m further than upstairs but fed from the same aeriel)

Raymond Bell: Sorted it !!! and very simple. I suspected I may not have wired the aerial cable correctly so watched a demo on Youtube and noticed that the guy stripped back a lot more cable (ie revealed far more copper shield) than i did. I therefore refitted both ends and cannot believe the differnce it has made to the signal strength. Fantastic. I know have my favorite news channel on in the part of the house i spend most of the time ...... The Kitchen !!!
