Below are all of michael's postings, with the most recent are at the bottom of the page.Anything that might constitute "driving without due care and attention" or not being in full control of the vehicle can be an offense - and rightly so. Even fumblig with a car radio or inserting a CD or eating, chatting etc. can result in reduced attention. A grey area, but with clear guidlines. As far as car-radios are concerned, high-tech DAB and FM radios are incontestably the safest. 3G-streaming might well become a viable option in future car-radios, but would be far less safe via a phone.

The BBC is no longer what it once was, very very sadly. Government could levy a modest digital tax, a fraction of which could fund public service, ie objective, independent information, education, culture etc. Entertainment could be demand-led funded by subscription and/or advertising, as now via existing commercial services.
However, I do not hold out hope that vested interests will allow anything along these lines to evolve...

Ooooops. Decimal point in the wrong place. So much for my GCSE maths. Message to self : don't do mental arithmetic at midnight :-)
