Nicholas AndersonNick Anderson:

Rowridge is one of several sites where changes required for 700Mhz clearance have put the two temporary HD muxes "out of band" with the TV antennas fitted in the area.

COM 7 & COM 8 have moved from UHF channels 31/37 to channels 55/56. This is well outside the frequencies the Group A antennas most Rowridge viewers have fitted were designed to receive.

If you have not had your antenna changed recently then you will need a Wideband antenna fitted to receive the channels correctly. Also these muxes are radiated at half the power of the other COM muxes.

London Live TV has now expanded its coverage via the Hemel Hempstead relay. Anyone receiving from this relay in Hemel Hempstead or St.Albans can now retune & will find LL TV on Freeview channel 8. The coverage does NOT extend to Watford, & is at a lower power (200 watts as opposed to 2kW) than the other muxes radiated from this mast.

Peter Cole:

Its not surprising this has happened at this site. To continue to radiate COM 7 & 8 would have required another panel retrofit at the top of the mast to use panels compliant with UHF 55 & 56. When you consider a very expensive blunder happened previously in 2008 where the top antenna was initially fitted with the panels in the wrong orientation & also a faulty feeder was installed.

Caradon Hill will also close COM7 & 8 in June as an expensive panel replacement excercise would also be required.

Talk sport is asking OFCOM if it can turn off 12 of its AM transmitters. Most of the South West of England, Northern Scotland & parts of Northern Ireland will no longer have AM coverage if this is agreed.
