I also commented that Digital UK are reporting engineering works at Rowridge and asked for clarification / expansion as to what they are and how they could affect reception, but received no response to that element of my query. Something, however "minor" it may be perceived, is going on. Please can you elaborate?

COM5 has gone down since Monday (extremely low or zero reception). Nothing else is affected and is working fine. External aerial has line of visible sight to transmitter SO51 6BN. Digital UK web site cites engineering works. Please could you clarify and expand?
