JM:
I am in Yarnton too (OX5) Cassington Rd. Around a year ago the ITV signal was good, now it isn't.

Regarding details on this problem.
Was fine with Nokia 221T, later fine with TVOnics PVR box. Then stopped being fine, became patchy, sometimes "norman collier" sometimes nothing, occassionally fine (to lure you into watching a film).
Recently got a new TV and still rubbish. TV reports low signal (4 out of 10 on a good day). If I put the PVR in-line, then the signal drops lower (indicating to me that it isn't too much signal).

I had assumed that the problems coincided with the fire at the mask in Beckley.

My hope is that when the DSO happens that things will sort themselves out. If not I will have to investigate attenuators, aerials, and cabling.

So, couldn't help myself.

Went up to loft to tweak aerial position. Managed to improve the signal from 21dB to 24dB (according to my cheapo Philips freeview box). So ch68 is worse than any of the others but (in the evenings) the picture no longer suffers from drop-outs.

Also discovered that my DVD player (old Panasonic S35) stuffs up the signal if it is turned on.

Looking forward to DSO.

Brian,

I wasn't aware of this situation and am pleased that I now am. The situation is complicated, not least by the top level media executives travelling between Sky, BBC, ITV (and even the government). You have highlighted a clear inconsistency that I believes needs rectifying.

If I wanted to attempt to change the situation, to whom should I write? I know I am one voice but its right to try.

Thanks,

Matt
