Mike J Hughes: You will normally get a mono signal on FM radio if the signal is too poor to decode the "extra stereo bit". I suggest you might want to speak to the communal aerial system's manager to see if they can check it for you.

Julian Hicks: The output levels are changed so that the coverage of the three PSB multiplexes matches that of the four analogue channels before switchover.

In Kent, in particular, the levels have to be selected with great care, because France, Belgium, Luxembourg and the Netherlands are very close, at least as far as radio signals are concerned.

Richard: The bit on the end of the name is not DV3, but DVB, "digital video broadcasting".

paul davies: You need a group B or wideband aerial pointing at the Sutton Coldfield transmitter - you might have to mount the aerial up quite high to deal with the terrain between you and the mast with all the channels on it. Mike: Yes, that is correct. Go for a "generic", rather than a "Freesat" or "Sky" banded box. You can get these at Maplin Electronics and often stores like Lidl.
