However, you can just swap out a Sky+ box for a Freesat HD+ box, see Upgrading from Sky+HD to Freesat+HD | ukfree.tv - helping the UK with free TV reception since 2002 for how to do that.

John Baker: Hi.
As you seem to be outside the official areas covered by DAB, then you are probably experiencing the intermittent effects (often the weather) that put you beyond the predicted coverage areas.
The best thing you can do is mount the aerial as high up as you can. If the set is portable, try moving it upstairs. You may need a roof mounted aerial to get reliable reception.

MikeP: I think you've managed to pick up a possible misconception there.
The principle of "responsive" design is that you deliver exactly the same content to all devices, and then the device uses the "media selectors" in the CSS code to change the way the site looks for that device.
So, there is 100% of the existing content showing now (search box aside) it just it gets resized.
The complex bit for existing sites it taking everything that has been designed on a fixed grid (it was 606 pixels before) and making it use CSS classes to make it work with the CSS "device-width" system.
It seems, from the statistics, that people are getting the hang of it.

colin1951uk: Click the menu (the "hamburger symbol" at the top right, or the logo) and then pick Freeview and then "My Freeview").
/extras/settings isn't working yet. It have redirected it to the prediction page for the moment.

MikeP: please call you explain what the problems is?
In what way is it unsuitable? It has been tested in IE, FF, Opera and Safari under Windows 7, 8.1 and 10.
Does it not look like the screen grab at the top of the page (when you press the hamburger for the menu)?
There is no multiple column mode anymore.

Tim: The BBC's structure (the Trust, the Licence Fee) does allow it to distance itself from the direct interference from government that ABC has taken.
However it does actually mean that the "agreement" that DG Thompson took on board will have much the same effect, just over a longer timeframe.
