Pip Shirley: The terrestrial digital switchover has no effect on satellite reception at all. You have nothing to worry about.

Billy: Actually there are THREE multiplexes from this transmitter, rather than the usual six.

The mode changes have allowed the BBC to take all the SD services on to a single multiplex, with BBCB used in 256QAM mode for DVB-T2 Freeview HD.

Mulitplex 2 and A were already in 64QAM mode (and had poorer coverage), so only Multiplex C and D (now ArqA and ArqB) have extra capacity, and it is ArqB that has Sky Sports 1 and 2.

This means there are two "slots" on ArqA.

Jake: I'm sorry, but if you use Freeview you are only served by transmitters in the West Midlands, due to the terrain.

If you want East Midlands news you will have to use Freesat (or Sky). Which BBC regions are on satellite? | ukfree.tv - independent free digital TV advice .
