What in your opinion is my best alternative if I unsubscribe ? Many thanks

Hello jb38, thank you for your reply and subsequent information. As is fairly standard these days I have of course Freeview 'built in', but have no info or have needed any, on FreeSat, which appears to me to be rather better ?? (right or wrong) ? Now!,well I'm thinking along those lines should I end my contract with Sky. It is not often that I use the reording side ,but it is nice to have the facility, and I appreciate your info re Freeat Twin tuner PVR. Again many thanks for your help

Hi again jb38, apologies for the delay. All your remarks duly noted.First of all the 'box' in question is indeed a Sky+ 350 gb(I think)So all in all I assume , in my naivety, that the present dish will have LNB 1 and 2 fitted , and the relevant FreeSat PVR wil be the 'way to go'with no great, if any, modification ! Yes, as you suggest, naturally, I prefer 'glich free reception'(is there such a thing )? Thanks again

jb38, pleased I have got things about right re the dish and PVR,.. Now as you so rightly say,' think along the lines of taking a look at the Humax range of Freesat PVRs' That is exactly what I have been doing, but here seems to be a train of thought that Humax are about to make the FT 2 , obsolete and move on to other models ?? .Other than that , yes,I do have leanings to that model , to fill the gap. By the way, I would ask , what use , if any, can the replaced Sky+ box be used for? Scrap ???

Hello jb38, yet again, thanks for your info.
Indeed , I seem to have learned quite a lot in a fairly short time , thanks to your tutoring. Have never looked, or needed, to examine the dish and LNB's, but understand the need for a quad as opposed to the twin block (must take a 'peep') if I require an extra in a spare room.. Finally, may I once more offer my sincere thanks for your great help in 'putting me wise' to the ways of 'feed' etc,The Humax will certainly be the way to. Best wishes .Vin Roberts

jb38, Yet more thanks to you for the vote of confidence in Humax. They are an unknown quantity with me,. I am aware that I may or may not be as 'lucky'? as yourself, but, that's life..As for the remote battery 'hiccup', yes, I find that rolling the AAA's does the trick , sometimes too.. Perhaps to do with slight 'oxidising' on the contacts !
If indeed I require further help, at least (with your indulgence) I will know where to come ! Again, many thanks ,and best wishes
Vin Roberts
