A sky+ box uses two inputs, as does a freesat+ box. You would only need to upgrade your LNB if you want to have satellite tv in another location

Jim: apart from checking all the cables from the LNB to the receiver and making sure they are not split and tightly connected, then it can be either LNB or dish alignment.

Chrissy: Sounds like you are getting no signal from the dish, as the update screen stays on for a while if it cannot find a signal. So, as above, check all the cables and connections, otherwise check the LNB and / or dish alignment. YOu could also try a friends box on your system to eliminate the problem of your box or your system. Phone line has no connection with the ability to receive channels. Its just there for you to vote on reality TV and buy things like from QVC or Box office movies.

trevor: a sky card can be used in ANY sky box....to an extent.
For the "6 mix" channels, there will be no problems. But for the Sky premium channels (ie Sports and Movies), and for recording, the card needs to be paired...otherwise you get "this is the wrong card" message.

kim: Sky1 is on one of the strongest frequencies for spain, so your problems will be with dish alignment, cable, or LNB issues.
Basic sat finders / beepers are not a good thing to use in fringe reception areas - find a decent installer in your area who has a better meter and knows what they are doing. Dont worry about what the signal test screen on the sky box says, as the results on there depend on what frequencies out of the 90+ used are being shown, and the time of day, and your exact location...

trevor: only if it was still part of a sky contract...some people sell boxes when they are still in a 12 month contract for a free install and free sky hd box...so in theory sky can tell from the serial number if th box is under contract...to a particular sky card and may get suspicious if that box were to apprear with another card at another address

If your friend has the exact same kit as you do (ie same dish, same LNB, same cable, same receiver) and he gets channels you do not, then perhaps your dish needs alignment.

Andy: Which of the 4 or 5 regional versions of ITV1HD have you lost?
The ITV1 on 11973, that required a sky card, has been moved to the same frequency as BBC1HD.
All of the ITV1HDs are now on Astra 2d.

Amfagan: if she pays a monthly sky subscription, then the SkyHD box will work on one feed...it even has an option to work with one feed rather than the two. If this is not selected, then the box will try and used the unconnected input to record. Thi is a problem with a bsic Sky+ box, as they do not have this "single feed" mode, like the HD boxes have. However, without two cables from either a Sky+ / SkyHD or Freesat receiver, recording and watching different channels at he same time will be comprommised.

Joseph: Frequencies used in France are the same as used in the UK. However, some frequencies are have better reception than others the futher south you go. ITV1 frequencies are spread over 6 frequencies on 3 satellites, each having different reception. It may mean your dish is not perfectly aligned, or your dish is too small to receive some of the ITV1 regions in your new area (a 60cm dish may have been OK where you used to like, but now you may need a 80cm or 1m dish to receive the same signals!). No amount of resets will help you with this, as its just down to which of the 15+ ITV1 regions you use...
