John: a good decoder is only one part of the puzzle. Dish alignment, LNB and cabling are also required. So your decode may still be OK, but there is a nother issue with your system.
Many people i know hwho have had a freesat box here in Spain, have gone back to a skybox with a freesatfromsky card, due tot he other ITV1, c4s and five and the other 5 or so more channels it receives. It is especially useful as you can get the ITV1 on 11973 on an 80cm dish over most of Spain, yet a Freesat box, that cannot use a Sky card is limited to the FTA Astra 2d frequencies only.

you can try C4s on 12480, the irish versions, but I think your dish is too small to receive them (they are on a "north" beam.
I think you may even struggle to get C4HH on your dish, as it is on a frequency similar to one at Badr 26 east, and the Badr will overpower the weaker Eurobird C4HD. Even my 80cm dish has trouble getting it 24/7, my 1.8m dish has not problems (i am near valencia). According to reports that one reason why they put C4HD on that specific frequency

There are no problems with any signal at all - not too sure about "no one is getting a signal" - as many of all clients are OK, as are many others.
Perhaps if you are on an urbanisation and sharing a dish, and you are getting no signal, then it is an issue with your distribution system?
Or some of the weather we have been having recently can reduce the signals.
If you are still having troubles, then your exaclt location, dish size, receiver make / model, and if you are on a community system or not would help in diagnose the problem.

You do need a Freesatfromsky card to view the 8 or so "free to view" ITV1 regions on frequency 12402, and 11973. Those on 11973 should easily be available in the Canaries. Theya re on an Astra 2 south beam, and are easily available on an 80cm dish over most of Spain, whereas the "free to air" ITV1 regions require a much bigger dish. In the same way that "free to air" five needs a very big dish, the "free to view" freestafromsky card versions need an 80cm dish.
So the freesatfromsky card is always a good idea in Spain for those FTV ITV1 regions, and the "Five" channels, and even C4s (the irish versions on 12480 if you can receive those).

Best to get the card activated in the UK, and post / bring it out to Spain and pop it in your Sky box.
Note that a Sky card will not workin a Freesat box.
The FReesatfromskyc ards are not box specific, so can be activated in one box, and used in another.

There are some ITV1 regions that require a sky card to view, as do 3 of the four "Five" regions.
The current sky card are white both sides. IF you ahve a Blue card, then these were deactiavted last year, and you will need to get a new one from Sky.
Asyou are getting the message "Insert your Sky card", then make sure you have the card inserted the right way around, and that you have put it into the correct slot. Sky boxes have two card slots. One says "interactive slot", and the other says "viewing card slot". Make sure you have the card in the correct slot. Some sky boxes have the sky card slot behind a pull down door on the right hand side of the box.
Two card slot - only one works with the sky card - and putting the card in the wrong slot is something that happens all to often.

michael: one of the reception maps I have seen (http://www.astra2d.com/images/Maps/astra2d_footprint3.jpg) says that a minimum of a 1.2m dish is required for Astra 2d reception in northern Italy, going to a 1.8m dish near Milan.
BBC1,2,3,4 are all on Astra 2d so you will not get those. BBC Sports streams you should get (freq 12441 v). And if you have a Sky card you can get OITV1 and ITV1+1 on fre 11973v.

GEORDIE MEL: Yes it will work. But the channels you will get on it are all dependant on the size of dish you have.
(For BBC channels you are looking at anything from 1.8 to 2,4m dish!)
But the FTV sky card will help. It will get some of the encrypted ITV1 regions (on freq 11973 or 12402), and maybe the irish C4s (on 12480) and the "Five" channels on a much smaller dish - maybe 80cm to 1m.
FTV Sky cards are NOT tied to Sky boxes. They can be used in ANY sky box.
The PAce 2500 is not really the best box to use on a "big dish" if you want BBCs. It is a poor performing tuner inside. ANd you can go and make a cuppa as it takes ages to change channels or use the menu system compared tot he newer boxes.

According to reports, there are issues with older Thomson Sky HD boxes, and Irish Sky card users, who are getting "No satellite siganl" messages when trying to watch BBC HD channels.

perhaps your dish is not big enough for a stable signal in your area of Spain. In some areas the 1.4m dishes are operating on the very limit of reception and they need to be aligned correctly.
Or, like you say, the dish needs to be realigned.
