I do my own aerials I brought most of it from screwfix and SATAS shop in Reading they know me well and i always buy the good stuff.... its alot cheaper too... makes me wonder why so expensive for a rigger to do it... A he has to pay insurance against damage, and injuries, the running cost of a Van and fuel.VAT,Taxes. the cost of the shop and staff..... add it up its alot of money just to keep a business afloat.. there are lots of good guys out there.. too many cowboys give them bad name... best to make sure they have CAI approved installer.. if they havent got it ask why... have few quotes before having new or replacement aerials.

To Mazbar.... Really i didnt know you had to pay over £200 a year just to be certified by CAI... But your charges are very very reasonable. and like you say if you do a good job ... you get repeat business...... good for you and hope it goes well for you

Mike B the sales man say on Sky box as freesat from sky.. has 240 channels free.. while freesat has 150 channels... i am not getting subcripton at all... freesat recorder boxes are over £150... i want brand new... wont have 2nd hand coz i had problems with 2nd user boxes.... plus £120 to install new dish and cables.... that makes freesat set up very expensive around £340 pounds to pay up front.

Mike B my dish is very old was up there since 1999 the LNB is knackered and the dish is very rusty
and i cant get up there due to my disability due to car accident.... i feel freesat set up is NOT £150... its more than that in shops plue £120 install fee

I just have to wait till next year and borrow a cherry picker and change LNB as i live an 3 story house...... no one will install dish or replace LNB that high... I been told i have to pay more due to "special Heights" charge even more.....I know i am being Ripped off.......

Thanks folks. Jb38.. I like to ask you opinion on sat tv cable.. Now for PVR is it best to use single cable for each feed or use. twin shot gun cable..... i am abit wary of twin cables as they are very thin.. ok it looks nice but......whats the quality difference between twin and nice thick single cable?
debate??

michael: I agree with you... I have get a proper DAB tuner and a roof top aerial for the house... I have a personal DAB radio a bush one from argos that works well in the car.. until you go pass a valley or down hills... dab tend to go like bubbly noise like underwater sounds... FM carries on fine.... I do wonder if DAB will increase transmission power? I thought the idea of DAB in car it auto tunes to the next station when it gets weak... it doesn't do that.. you have to press auto tune for each time you go different parts of UK..... I heard Europe is having DAB+ which means our DAB wont work there? am i right or wrong?
