Below are all of John's postings, with the most recent are at the bottom of the page.First of all, I should say that my television aerial is an indoor one - I don't have an outdoor aerial. Reception of the majority of Freeview channels is absolutely fine.
Some time ago certain channels began pixelating and they disappeared. I made the mistake of rescanning and lost them altogether. Essentially, they were the channels on the lowest-powered multiplexes. About two months ago I rescanned - and got some of them back. My favourite - TalkingPicturesTV - was still missing. A couple of weeks ago all of those low-powered channels again began pixelating - and, again disappeared. Mysteriously, last week they were back. Atmospheric conditions, perhaps.
I could wait for some good, stable weather and scan again.
There are inconsistencies - based on the spread of channels shown on this web page. I now have That's Solent again - that's on the lowest-powered mux (10,000W). I have all channels on the 18,400W mux - though they do pixelate from time to time. I DON'T have any channel on the 24,400W mux.
Is there any way of asking the staff in Rowridge why certain channels are placed on certain multiplexes? Why is it that I can receive the one channel on the 10,000W mux, but can't receive any on the 24,400W one?

Good morning all,
I'm in the Southampton area, and my transmitter is Rowridge, on the Isle of Wight. I use an indoor aerial and experience no problems receiving the full compliment of channels in my area.
Last night I lost BBC1, BBC2 and a host of other channels. It was late and I switched my television off. As I usually watch BBC News very early in the morning, I switched on this morning. The channels were still missing. I then did something rather stupid. I did a re-scan.
Result: total number of stations was 68; number of radio stations: 3.
BBC and the other missing channels completely wiped. Oh, not every BBC channel. I still have BBC1 HD.
Re-scan number 2...
Total number of channels: 28; number of radio stations: 0
In my channel list I now had London Live AND That's Solent. Maybe there'd been some work done to the main multiplexes. According to this web page, "This transmitter has no current reported problems".
Can anyone throw any light on this?
I'll do another scan this evening when I get home. Fingers crossed...

Thanks Steven,
I'm hoping that's what it is. I'll re-scan again when I get home, though I'm not confident that I'll get the missing channels back today.
*note to self* scan for channels ONLY when absolutely necessary! :-D

Good morning jb38,
Thank you for your recommendation. I am surrounded by trees, so that might cause problems with lower-powered muxes. My television is the Samsung 24E390. Doing a search through the manual I can't find any reference to DVB-T2. It is an HD television and the reception of the available HD channels - includding BBC1HD on channel 101 - via my indoor aerial is excellent. I'm not sure how to 'enter' C31 (COM7). I'll have a look later on this evening.
