I must admit, interference did occur to me as a possible cause. I will try turning this beast to a different angle and see if that has an effect. It is like a rabbit warren here, more like a bee hive to be honest! Anything could be getting to my distinguished old Panasonic. I did change all my lights to LEDs. Hmm

jb38: Hi. I am going to pare back the aerial cable and inch or so and see if this works. It has become quite clear today that all mainstream stations, by that I mean BBCs, CH4s are fine. All others are banjaxed!

jb38: I have tried this. Better quality (excellent) on main stations BBCs, CH4s. All other stations jiggered! There is definitely a disparity between these signals and my TV This has become apparent since the start of November.

May well be a defective tuner as moving TV had no effect. Is there any way to put this right or is my giant screen on its way out? I was wondering if I could use it as a monitor for the excellent Richer Sounds? This tiny tv seems to be able to get a perfect picture anywhere. shame the screen is so small.

jb38: Excellent suggestion jb! I think it has to an HD box. Worth the money for the dramatic improvement in quality alone. I'll keep you in the loop :-)

jb38: You may remember the trouble I was having with about half my Freeview channels? The signal quality, on the blink? Well, this seems to have resolved itself, quite spontaneously, after about a month of disruption. It came and went, just like that.

I am quite sure this problem was due to engineering works on my local transmitter. I would recommend you wait a few weeks to see if things resolve themselves. I wasted about 20 quid on attenuators and cable strippers etc, to no avail. Now it's all got better by itself!

jb38: I am not disputing the signal strength. What I am saying is that something in the nature of the information my tv is receiving has changed. Why should half the stations have perfect quality and the other half next to none? If they all come from the same transmitter? Only certain wavelengths seem to be affected.
