You may be able to get all the Freeview channels even though you're behind some hills where you are. Take a drive towards Whaley, on the right as you go past the Hanging Gate are a house & a bungalow, each with a big X beam high gain aerial & amp on the roof. Youll need something similar to be in with a chance. I live in Whaley & get all the channels. My outdoor, amplified Blake SR18CD is actually pointing towards Chinley Churn!. This is approx 90 degrees clockwise from the actual line between Winter Hill & my house. I got the aerial, amp & fittings from here A.T.V (Aerials And Television) TV Aerial, DAB Aerial, FM Aerial.

Map of area between SK054807 and Hill
shows what is on a line between Winter Hill & the centre of Chapel (SK054807 is on Station Rd N). Hit back below the map to show the terrain blocking the line of sight. Theres a link there to take you to the main page to re-enter map co-ordinates for a more accurate fix.

Tried the terrain mapping feature on the "My Freeview" page but get the message "Your browser does not support the canvas element."
Tried changing the compatability view setting in IE8 but it made no difference. Does this error message mean I need to download some sort of plug-in to get the browser to display correctly?

Brian.
Didn't know where best to post this question so just picked here.
If TV distribution were to be started again in the UK, without cost limits for transmitter building etc, using the same post 4G frequency banda & removing the regional variations for BBC & ITV news, how many transmitters would be required to achieve the same coverage that there is now & where would they be best sited? Just interested to see if there would be any less than the 1100+ there is now.

Is Film 4 an extra channel on PSB2 or has it replaced one of the +1 channels?

Chris Rimmer:
Hi. My 40 month old Grundig GULENAR26HDIP tv has the problems you describe. I've been in touch with Grundig (actually now owned by Harvard International, tel 0871 2301777). The service bloke there told be the problem is due to different transmission modes being used (2k, 5k & 8k?) & that the tv cannot cope with it. This problem only started sometime in April & that Grundig (Harvard are working with Beko (who actually made the tv) to engineer a fix (possibly by OAD, possibly hardware). He did say to write to Harvard Internationals engineering department describing the problem & said they would get back to me. Ive read a few posts on other forums (http://www.avforums.com/forums/lcd-led-lcd-tvs/1456113-grundig-lenaro-26-lcd-tv-freezes.html &
I was watching ch5 yesterday about 3pm when I pressed another...
)about other people who are having the same problem. Interesting that as more regions change to only digital the problem will affect more people (unless a fix is found).
