Should Jeremy Hunt give up his powers to intervene?
If youve read this far, you are probably scratching your head I had better translate. The competition watchdog was advising Jeremy Hunt that the conditions he is imposing on News Corporation - which are designed to maintain the independence and distinctiveness of Sky News - are unlikely to be effective for more than seven-to-ten years. So as and when Mr Hunt comes to a final view on all this, having reviewed the submissions he has received during last months consultation, what could he do to protect himself from judicial review - bbc.co.ukwww.bbc.co.ukFreeview reviews 10m ad account after split with 18 Feet Rising - advertising news - Campaign

AFP Wellington - Vodafone and Telecom are pressing for the government to set aside analogue radio frequencies used by television channels to allow ultra-fast broadband for mobile phones. The Ministry of Economic Development has unveiled a scoping plan for its review of the broadcasting frequencies before it considers advice to the Government at the end of this year on life after analogue TV. Some frequencies will be retained for the shift to digital and they do have other uses but with well-resourced companies such as Telecom and Vodafone ready to compete for frequencies, the Government review will focus on mobile communications. - iol.co.zawww.iol.co.zaMonday 04 April 2011, AM
James Murdoch's move hints at next chapter for News Corp - Media - The Guardian

Lord Patten, the new chairman of the BBC Trust, will have his resilience tested. However, behind the scenes and in spite of the minister's profuse and no doubt genuinely meant reassurances, a furious disagreement about just that remains worryingly unresolved.
