The BBC Freeview trial from the Crystal Palace transmitter will finish at the end of April 2007.
However the BBC HD trial service will continue on satellite. This is expected to continue for another year, until the BBC Freesat service starts next spring.
The Freeview HD test was a closed trial of 450 homes in London, and its closure will also improve Multiplex A (five, five US, five Life, Top Up TV) reception in parts of Kent.
