It appears that ITV will not allow the Virgin owned shopping channels to have two slots on multiplex A from January, and this probably explains how the free to air Disovery channel will fit onto Freeview. (Discovery to launch Freeview channel - - independent digital television and switchover advice, since 2002).

Virgin to pay up to 38m pounds a year for return of basic Sky channels - Media - reports:

Sit-Up TV has been dealt a blow by Freeview with news that one of its two licences to broadcast over the free-to-air digital service will not be renewed in January 2009.

"In the fourth quarter, management is reviewing the implications of this development on our business model and considering alternative courses of action," Virgin Media said.
