Charan: Yes! please do, giving an update on results, but leave the box running for say 10 minutes or so to allow it to heat up, as it may well appear as being OK if allowed to get stone cold.

(if i leave sky), i have a sky plus hd box can i still use the box and sky dish to live pause rewind and record without paying a subscription on the normal tv channels

William Edge: No! as Sky retains permanent control over access to this side of the box and needless to say will disable it either on, or around, the same time as your ability to view channels dedicated to Sky packages irrespective of what you view.

I have two separate tv's with built in Freeview. I wish to split the cable, from an aeriel not a dish, to work both of these tv's.
I have purchased the splitters but it appears to stop one of them working. So do I need a booster or what??

Maggie when did you write?
Basically you need to do whatever it says in the instructions that came with your TV or box.
Pressing "Menu" then "Setup" or "Tuning" may be good.

Glen: If you are referring purely to Freeview reception via a normal aerial then when you say "splitters" what type of devices are you referring to? as its the singular "splitter" thats required and which has one common input but two or more outputs.
If this is what you have purchased then the only way this could have blocked reception is if you are located in an area of low signal strength, if you are then its a powered version you require which gives a mild boost to the signal as well as providing each output with the same level of signal.

I observe from the signal coverage map of the forthcoming local TV station "That's Solent" the whole of Portsea Island is not shown as having an equally strong signal from Rowridge which serves the station. Should not the parameter be adjusted to serve the whole Solent area covered more adequately and can not the problem for those living in the effected areas be served by a slight adjustment to their antenna?

Nick Anderson: The local TV services are carried on multiplexes which are to be broadcast on "interleaved frequencies".
These are gaps in the frequency plan that cannot be used for full services, but can be used for very reduced power, reduced coverage ones.
The areas can't be extended because they would cause interference in other parts of the digital TV network.
