Kathleen: I don't know why you were getting interference on ch 5, but if you get good reception on 105, the HD service, then you are getting a better quality picture anyway.

Kathleen:

It could be due to the high pressure over some parts of the country and the hot weather. That often causes signals to travel further than usual and hence causes the type of interference you describe. Do not try to retune your equipment.

As no-one more expert has responded; I know nothing about the location and frequencies involved but as a general rule the weather and what are known as "propagation conditions" ( the behavior of radio waves as they travel, or are propagated, from one point to another) both change with the conditions of the atmosphere.

Please fix commenting on this page:
https://ukfree.tv/radio/p…ion/
so that it doesn't keep throwing you out and in to a freeview prediction page.

Also please answer the question I posted there which it's now impossible to view (you just end up viewing freeview questions) about the shortcomings of that radio prediction page when it comes to DAB.

Kathleen: Hi, Kathleen. If you can watch channel 5 in HD on channel number 105, why are you bothered about not being able to watch it in standard definition on channel number 5? Richard, Norwich.

I use Freeview via my Panasonic blu ray receiver DMR-BWT735
Since updating the channels as suggested via an update on-screen message, after the Olympics, I appear to have 'lost' BBC Four HD?
This is the channel I watch most. It seems to have reappeared with the following message;

"BBC Four HD has moved. For most viewer you can get BBC Four back by retuning your tv or box.
As our coverage is 'Limited' (?) on Freeview HD we're sorry that BBC four will not be availaible to some viewers even after a retune.
BBC Four SD is still available on channel 9 ""

Is there anyway around this? - while C-Beebies and shopping channels appear on Freeview in HD an interesting and education channel is not!! Rather peeed off !! Any help would be most welcome.

Martin: BBC 4 HD has returned to the capacity it used before the Olympics when it received a temporary increase in coverage. If you could receive it then you should be able to again now after retuning.

Came back for me after a retune.
Freeview is a strange system.

Martin: What transmitter are you using? According to your postcode, DigitalUK places you just 6km (!) from Bluebell Hill (admittedly with a hill or something fairly close to you), with all the muxes available at good levels.

StevensOnln1:

It's now listed as channel 790 on my guide (think it used to be 106) but there is just a blank black screen and the message I posted earlier !!!
I watched the Olympics on there - very odd indeed !!
