Don Chester: There are 10s of thousands of mobile phone masts, TV and radio transmitters, as well as various other structures hosting communications equipment across the country. Ofcom used to have the sitefinder database which had a map showing locations of all mobile phone masts etc, but that was discontinued a few years ago. If you put a postcode into the Freeview detailed coverage checker (see link below) it will show any Freeview transmitter locations which are predicted to be receivable, most of which also host other communication equipment for mobile phone networks, etc.

Why do the media always assume when they state that certain news and information channels are available on freeview that everyone has a smart TV connection to the internet when this is needed to view many national and international channels?

Nicholas Anderson: Most of the streaming channels would never be able to afford to broadcast on Freeview if they weren't streamed, and given how far down the EPG they are listed, are probably happy just to be promoted at all.

StevensOnln1: I've just switched my home broadband provider and can no longer post comments on any page when using my new provider (I'm currently posting using 4G). I see the message below instead of the comment box:
Sorry, comments are closed on this page during a database upgrade.
I suspect @Briantist may need to update the site's geo-location checking, as it may not be recognising my new IP address (149.40.x.x range) as being in the UK.

Hiya, I've not come across that one before. I have had problems at various times accessing the whole site with assorted error messages - site not responding, too many connections and maybe some others. I don't know if it's when there's updates going on or what.
Hopefully @Briantist can sort it all out.
