Channel One to close, Challenge to come to Freeview
Sky is closing one pay and one free channel from the portfolio it bought from Virgin TV, because they match channels already provided by Sky.
Bravo and Channel One (which was Virgin 1 and before that FTN) will close.
This means that the Channel One slot on Freeview will be replaced with the quiz show channel Challenge.
Challenge is now in the Freeview guide on 46. If you can't see it yet, please follow these instructions on your set-top box or Freeview TV: My Freeview box has no EPG, is blank on FIVE, ITV3, ITV4, ITV2+1, has no sound or the channel line up is wrong - ukfree.tv.

Very sad as thoroughly enjoyed V the series, series one! Any idea when and where we can veiw series two on freeview? Or how many years before it will be free? I have no plans at all to buy sky which maybe great for sports fans but way too expensive just to watch SOME programmes. Why did virgin sell this great channel? Enlighten me!

Sheila Anita Scrivens: Virgin decided that they did not wish to be a "content provider" and only be in the subscription and provision business.

Who wants DAB? How many radios are there out there? I have at least 7 in my household - including cars - and only one can get DAB.
How many current new car radios can get DAB?
This was sheer madness by the last Govt and it seems like this lot have only partially realised what the problem is.
We consumers are not there just to buy the latest gadget from the electronics industry.

Loved that 8pm lull - kids in bed and Star Trek on the telly but no more. Channel 1 was the most watched digital channel in our house. Shame on you Murdoch!

Lets start a campaign to get C1 back on freeview and rid it of all the rubbish. If they shut it down they can start it up again. Money grabbing greedy fat cats.

I still think DAB is a blind alley and the public are not ready for it.
I suspect that internet supplied radio will become dominant and DAB will end up like 8 track.

Des Collier: I don't think it has been allocated (to the highest bidder) yet by Arqiva.
