Yes, there's a £100 HDMI cable in here somewhere. And a Freeview+ box has two tuners, no?

ian: I guess they work on most people being easily bamboozled at the point-of-sale. It's called "upselling".

Like all these places, it all depends on who you get, and you don't know untill too much later! I have had biased, ill-informed claptrap and impartial, honest and informed in the same store 1 week apart - I'm getting to know who to talk to now!

Des Collier: The bits I have read without a subscription are quite worrying. I guess it's another case of caveat emptor...

Let me say it is comforting to find I am I am not alone in having a problem with ignorant sales staff. It happens so often I used to think it was perhaps my fault!
OTOH, you don't have to have two tuners to watch live tv while recording another on the DVD recorder, surely. What IS useful is to have the same recorder play back one programme while recording another.
And, the number of hours recording varies according to the quality level selected.

Keith Edgerley: Actually no, a digital recorder just takes the bits from the broadcast and stores them, you can't adjust the "quality" as this would require the device to decode and then recode the recording.

i think the "quality" is in the dvd player menu and referes to its personal recording timeslip an not the original film ect
