According to the Guardian, "Freesat has passed the 2 million customer mark".

Also of note is this claim:

"Freesat's customer research claims that "a record 47% of its customers have come from Sky households so far in 2011". The company added that it is continuing to see a "steady increase" in Sky defectors over time.

In addition:

Freesat says gross retail sales are almost £1bn and it is the fastest-growing UK television platform. "We launched three years ago and in that short time have quickly established ourselves as a real challenger and genuine alternative to pay-TV," said the Freesat managing director, Emma Scott.

Many thanks - what drew my attention to it was that the neighbour gets them on Virgin media 113 , so I assumed that it was something I could do something about. Kind regards.

linda macdiarmid: Purely referring to the problem mentioned, its almost certain that the dish has moved a fraction hence the reason for no signal. If it was easily accessible you could try giving it the smallest nudge to the left or right, or more accurately obviously back "into" the direction the wind was sweeping across it.

Hey, we threw out our freesat card as we have a small son, and it was too easy to find 'adult' channels by playing with the remote. It was un intentional, he's only two. But I don't want to expose him to things like this. We also found a lot of t.v increasingly pornographic or unsuitable for ourselves to watch as we are Christians. Please would you be able to inform us if there is any way of asking sky to block channels for us so that even without entering a parental guide, they wouldn't be there in the first place? We also have teenage children. And is it possible to only receive programmes suitable for 12 year olds? Sorry if this sounds a bit weird!

K W: I assume you mean Freesat-from-Sky as Freesat does not require a viewing card.

You can set up parental controls on all Sky boxes. See Sky TV | Set up for the manuals for each different type of box, which will show you how to do this.

They do say that the default PIN is the last four digits of the viewing card's serial number - if you don't have the card, and you haven't set the PIN to something else, you will need to contact Sky to find out what it was or to get it changed.

Skipton

Hi is there anyway to get Yesterday,Dave, etc as my area the Skipton Town transmitter is not sending these channels out.
I have still got my 1 meter dish and sky box running to get all the freeview channels, but wondered if there was any chance that these channels might be on another sattelite.I scrapped my Sky subscription ealier this year to save money and dont want to go down that road.
Thanks
Phil

Phil Martin: Sorry, but the answer is "no". The UKTV channels are part of the Sky subscription system on satellite. You can watch them online using the links in the panel in the right hand column.
