New channel coming to Freeview - Drama from 8 July
Freeview slot 20 25 (more than likely, replacing Dave Ja Vu) will be filled with a new channel from 8th July 2013, which will be a BBC version of the hugely popular ITV3.
With shows such as Tipping The Velvet, Cranford and Lark Rise To Candleford, Jane Austen's Pride And Prejudice (and the odd programme from ITV, such as Catherine Cookson's The Cinder Path and Sean Bean-fronted Sharpe).
Lark Rise To Candleford
"There's a great deal of fantastic content that the Freeview audience hasn't been able to see for a long time," said UKTV controller Emma Tennant.
Drama channel controller Adrian Wills adds "You might think that with 10 channels there's a lot of space to showcase classic drama but, in fact, the channels we have are quite specific, so there was no real space to show the deeper archive. When you look at who else is doing classic drama, it's only ITV3, and it does fantastically well so there's room for more than one".
Mary: The programmes on Drama (and most other channels) are played out automatically by computer systems.
If there is a fault, which it sounds like there is, there is "presentation" person around on these minor channels to provide an apology.
I'm sure that the playout company, Red Bee Media did not wish to spoil your enjouyment of any show.

Maybe red bee media would like to explain just what happened last night!!! If we don't get endings to programmes there's not much point in showing them. Lots of hype about this new channel but how do you voice a complaint to whoever is running this.? WHY NO APOLOGY.

I've tried retuning my Sony HXD870 hard disc recorder, so it will accept channel 20 - but all it does is keep channel 20 as 'Really'. How do I get round this please?

Trevor: You shouldn't need to retune your Sony at all. I have the 995, and twice a day it wakes up, updates itself (including any new channels, ect), and then goes back to sleep. It even changed Walthams new channel from 53 (which it first found) to 49 without me doing a thing. It certainly had no problem with the change to 'Drama'.
Obviously don't switch it off when your not using it, just put it into standby and it should do its own thing.

Trevor: I have one of those models. You will probably find that it has put Drama in the 800s because logical channel number 20 is already occupied.
Go to the 800s and find which number Drama is. Then use "Channel Sort" to swap 20 and whatever Drama is. See page 131 of the manual.

i do not seem to be able to find any listings for the new drama channel, so end up with an episode finishing and no idea when the next part will be on, very annoying.

I have tried to expect several programmes from Drama on channel 20 on Youview HUAWEI and they always fail with the message "recording failed". Anyone else succeeded in recording this channel?

Kable Singh: As this programme is transmitted on the same multiplex as ITV3 / E4 / 5* etc then the question would be, can you record any of these channels? as your problem might simply be caused through bad reception of this multiplex.
