Can I get German/Italian channels on Sky Digital?
No, I am afraid not. You will need to have your dish pointing at the Astra 1 satellites at 19.2ðE to receive the German services. The UK services are on the Astra/Hotbird satellites at 28.2ðE
You will need a dish pointed at the Hot Bird 2 at 13.0ðE satellite to get Italian channels such as:
RAI Uno, RAI Due, RAI Tre, RAI Med, Canale Lavoro, RAI Edu 1, RAI Mosaico, RAI News 24, Camera dei Deputati, TelePace, RAI Sport Satellite, RAI Nettuno Sat Due, RAI Edu 2, RAI Nettuno Sat Uno, Sat 2000, Italia 1, Canale 5, Rete 4 and Senato Italiano.
Listing for RAI channels can be found RAI TV listings.

Hi Pat,
No its not legal its probably some kind of card sharing if it requires internet connection, these work quite well as long as the people behind it dont get busted.
Be carefull who you give credit card details to & try to use something like paypal if you do this so no bandits get your card details, if they dont want payment & class the service as a gift then only enter into this if you can afford to lose the cost of the equipment & fitting because if the service goes down the equipment is not much use.
Its a risk & the choice is yours.

Hi, I live in a first floor flat, which is connected to a communal Sky dish. Each flat only has one connection to the Sky dish, so we can only receive standard Sky and not Sky+. My question is is it possible for me to get Sky+ into my flat, without running another cable from the Sky dish to my flat, which would obviously be cheaper!

Jennifer: You can have "Sky+" in "single connection mode", but you will not be able to watch a programme you are not recording. Sky will be able to provide you information about this.

Hi,
I just moved to the UK (I live in Basingstoke, Hants) and I
was wandering if you can help me.
I would like to install a satellite dish in my house and I
am interested in seeing all uk channels (something I can
use eventually with a sky box but I have also a tv with
freesat), and sky italy+germany. Can I use only a a motorised dish
(with 2 LNBs or more?), what are
my options, and what equipment do you suggest?

haya - You won't be able to receive Hotbird I doubt as the Satellite dish will be aligned to the cluster of satellites at 28 degrees South East. Hotbird requires a Satellite dish aligned to 13degrees South East. The twin outlet allows for a SKY plus or Freesat plus receiver with an on board HDD and twin tuners that facilitate program recording of two separate channels whilst watching another. You can record with the Technomate with a USB HDD or high capacity Pen Drive, but as it only has a single tuner more than one recording is tied to channels on the same transponder as that which you are watching. Some Flat complexes have more than one Dish as in some London Boroughs where the needs of multiple cultures are catered for. You need to check out with the responsible agency to ascertain what your service provision allows for.

Marcello- If your planning to go with SKY at some time then they will fit a dish for you with their package and installation. which will give you the UK channels. As for SKY Italia and Germany then the most versatile option would be to install a motorised system with 80/88cm dish - SKY dishes aren't the best for this purpose. I would suggest the following:- Triax TD series dish of the aforementioned size(s) Inverto Black Quad LNB giving you four ports for receiver connection(s) and either a STAB or Dark Diseqc Motor - Ground sited if possible for ease of maintainence.

Hi Les,
thanks for your reply. I live in a new house and I checked all connections in the loft. There are 2 cables coming from the roof and they both have sat written on them, plus 8 loose cables going downstairs (there is 1 connection in every bedroom but with the connector I would use for aerial not sat, so I am confused), plus in the living room there are four connectors, two look like satellite and two look like aerial (again I am confused). Attached to all cables in the loft there is a label that says: 2xsat dish cable - 4 lounge - 4 bedrooms - *no aereal.
I asked for two quotes and just for installing the motorised dish (if I buy the equipment myself) I have been asked around 250/300£ and I think it is highly overpriced...
Are you able to give me more info on what I need if I just want to install a motorised dish and an aerial, any suggestion is welcome... Thanks in advance, Marcello

Hi guys,
If I use an 80 cm dish pointed towards Hotbird 13.0°E to get Italian channels such as: RAI Uno, RAI Due, can it be used with a Sky +HD box ??
Many thanks.

Ali: No, you can't use it with a Sky+HD box, they are designed to work with the services on the 28.2/28.5 cluster.
