DT, Quick answer; NO.

Sky gets it's channels from a satellite using a satellite dish.
Virgin gets its channels down your phone line using a broadband telephone line.
For a one off payment get a Freesat box and connect it to the Sky satellite dish.
You will now get all the free satellite channels.

Easiest way to find out is to go and buy a cheap freeview box and connect it up to your TV, if it works OK you know its your TV that is faulty, and if your Freeview box acts up you know its your aerial, or they are doing some work to the transmitter you receive you signal from. PS don't forget to look at transmitter information on this site.Tom Fletcher Alpha Aerials Shffield

I'm on FSFS with a Sky Digibox. It connects to my TV by SCART.

I've just got a BT v+box. It has an Aux port for DVD player, etc.

Can I send the signal from the sky box into the Aux port of the BT V+ then into the TV? Wont the V+ box just see the signal coming into the aux port as a signal that could be straight from a DVD player?

Cheers

ross: Yes, you can. Put the BT Vision box into stand-by mode to access fSfS.

Hi, I have a humax freeview box currently connected to a fairly new ariel on roof. I am moving to a house with no ariel on roof but a satellite dish on wall. Can I connect to this or will I need another ariel on roof to continue with freeview viewing? Thanks

You will need another aerial on the roof to recieve freeview. Contact an installer to get it sorted.

Keyon:
Yes, but not all the channels. You also have to know the channel numbers that are free to select otherwise it is a case of paging through them. A Freesat box only shows the channels you can actually receive.

mark: No, BT Vision is a Freeview box and can only be attached to a rooftop aerial.

The leads you describe are called "aerial fly leads".
