The problem could be one of:

- the aerial has been moved or damaged;

- the cables or connectors that connect the digibox to the aerial are damaged;

- the digibox has broken.

If you have a "spare" digibox you use this to test the aerial connection. Can you still watch analogue TV OK?

The Turtle:

Under the current weather conditions, you should *not* have retuned your TV set, all that will do is empty the tuner's memory of what channels you used to have, hence no channels found! You need to wait until the warm weather changes to something cooler, and perhaps wetter, and then try a retune again. These weather conditions have been known for more than 60 years to cause reception problems, it's why Radio Luxembourg (Wonderful 208! as was) faded worse during the summer.

Gussie:

A full post code is essential so we can look at where you are in relation to the many transmitters in use.

Carol Cusack : Hi Carol. Thank you for supplying your full postcode. This has enabled me to check the transmitter(s). There are no faults or works going on at any of the transmitters that could serve you and so the issue must be down to you. Firstly, pop outside and check your aerial points the same way as all of your neighbours' aerials. Then, is it possible that a child or a pet has knocked into the aerial lead where it feeds your tv, or maybe the lead has been accidentally pulled and the connection between the lead and its plug has become loose either at the tv end or the end which plugs into the wall-plate. Check these things, then if necessary, do a re-tune. Rememember that if you do a full re-tune you will lose any favourite channes or recording timer settings. I hope the tips will be of assistance and I'm sorry it took me 40 minutes to reply! Richard in Norwich. PS Let me know how you get on!

Good morning. For some weeks now I have been receiving weak or no signal (or a very badly broken up signal) on both my Samsung TVs. I am in postcode SO40 7AF, so I should be picking up Rowridge. The ariel is fine, as my Humax PVR works perfectly well, as does my BT Youview SD box. I'be tried resetting the TVs, auto tune without the aerial in before a full auto tune with the aerial back in, and manual tuning - nothing fixes the problem. Mostly (except once) channel 24 picks up channels in the 800 numbers, which I suspect may be part of the problem. Any thoughts gratefully received!

Regards

Nick

Nick Gross: Hi, Nick. I note that UHF channel 24 is the channel Rowridge uses for the main SD PSB1 or BBCA multiplex and so if your aerial is of the correct type is in good condition and is correctly aimed at Rowridge, your receiving equipment should treat reception of channel 24 as a PRIMARY channel and not a secondary channel ( it is secondary channels, usually from a different transmitter that one would expect to be found in the 800s).In my experience it is sometimes necessary to retune TWICE with the aerial connected back in, in order to get all channels back with the correct logical channel numbers (LCNs).Give this a try in the first instance. Obviously I'd assume you've checked EVERYTHING for loose or dodgy connections! It would be interesting to know how your Youview SD box and Humax PVR get their signals and how these two pieces of equipment are connected to your tv set, as any other respondents to your post may well wish to know too. Hear from you soon , after you've checked all connections and re-tuned again, Richard, Norwich.

kk: The TV is telling you that your aerial system is kaput - there is obviously a break somewhere.

Much to my surprise Midhurst has started broadcasting BBC FOUR HD today! Or has my PVR picked up another transmitter?

After switching it on it gave an error that I had lost all channels and forced me to re-tune, after which I can now view BBC FOUR HD! I've waited a few years for that, so very excited.

Had this been announced in advance?
