Hi, we've moved into a flat where the previous people left a sky dish, can a freesat box be connected to this?

My flat has a dish left by a previous tennant, and I've managed to get hold of a 2nd hand standard Sky digibox, along with 2 different viewing cards - an older blue one and a newer white one.
After reconnecting the dish I find I can receive good strength signal and can get most of the channels available on terrestrial Freeview with one or two exceptions like Five for example. On many channels an on-screen message tells me that the blue card is out of date and needs to be replaced. If I swap it for the newer white card, almost exactly the same channels are available with the same exceptions, only now the on-screen message that appears on many other channels tells me that the white card is not authorised and asks me to ring Sky.
Should I be able to receive the full Freesat From Sky package using any of these cards and if so what do I need to do? If I need to purchase a new viewing card what should it cost and where's the best deal available that you know of?
Your advice would be greatly appreciated...

Steve Rowe: Either pay Sky £25 for a card, call 08442 411 602 with your credit card.
Or get a Freesat box for £30 and never need a card again, such as Buy Bush BFSAT02SD Freesat SD Digital Box - Black at Argos.co.uk - Your Online Shop for Freesat digital set top boxes.

Hi
I've had a Freesat box for more than a year now, which i connected to to a Sky dish left by the previous owners of the house.
Recently the reception has been getting intermittent, with it now being difficult to watch anyting as it keeps stopping, or even saying "no service available".
I would like to get this fixed as soon as possible, how do I go about it?

Insake Allso - You need to have the dish re-aligned as it seems likely it has moved - Even a very slight movement can cause breakup and loss of picture. Best to have a local (reputable) rigger sort this out.

I have a satellite dish and aerial installed at my home (installed by previous owner). What sort of box will I need to purchase?

Ryan J: For the aerial, you'd need a Freeview box. For the satellite dish, a Freesat box, or a Sky box. If there are two feeds from the dish you can get a Freesat+ or Sky+ recorder.

Hello,
I have a SKY dish, HD box and a giant bill every month ... and we also recieve FREEVIEW well.
We could manage without SKY except for SKY Sports 2 .. and the bill !!
Any suggestions would be valued.
