I have TV, Sky+ box and DVD/VCR combo, how do I connect them up?
You need just TWO SCART leads:
- one from the SCART on the TV marked (1) or (RGB) connected to the Sky+ box's SCART labelled "TV"
- one from the SCART on the Sky+ box marked "VCR" to the first SCART connector on the DVD/VCR combo.
You can then view the stuff from the DVD by either pressing "PLAY" or putting the Sky+ box into Standby mode.

ben: ... a card is no longer required for any channels on fSfS other than PICK TV.

Briantist: Re: your reply to ben. I have just carried out a check on ITV1 (Anglia West) and still cannot receive it without the viewing card being inserted, I also carried out a second test by killing the power supply to the box, then after a 30sec or so gap powered it up again, letting it go through the usual setting up "searching for listings" procedure, the result being exactly the same as it still doesn't work without the card.
Although you are obviously quite correct regarding 5*, which I was totally unaware of it no longer required the card, but I wonder now many other ITV regions still do? including of course my own. (Anglia West)
As your finger is usually on the proverbial pulse about these things, I wondered if you have any updates on the situation?

fin, you purchase a Humax FreeSat STB Model No: FOXSAT HD-R. and have a Quad LNB fitted on your dish to feed it them you can record FreeSat (freeview) channels on this. Also you can feed from your computer iPlayer into FOXSAT HD-R and watch on your TV for BBc progs you have missed.

Briantist: Please ignore my query as obviously the card is just required for regional news purposes otherwise it defaults to London, with the reason it didn't work at all without it only being because of my haste in re-connecting the box again thereby not giving it long enough for the memory to drop out after having removed its mains connection, this basically as I knew it was being intermittently viewed at the time when I tested it.
I put it down to a case of the "Merrydown effect" kicking in!!

jane: Do you know what model the new TV is? or that of the DVD player? its just that TV's with only one scart socket usually have HDMI sockets to enable external equipment like DVD players etc of the more modern variety to be connected to them via this type of socket, so if the TV and the DVD player has these sockets then an HDMI lead is required, this leaving the scart on the TV purely for the Sky box.
However if HDMI sockets are not available on the equipment, then the common socket on the scart selector goes into the TV and with the Sky box using one of the sockets and the DVD on the other, each being selected via the button on the scart selector, that is taking it that your sister did purchase an actual scart selector as such? and not a combiner that cannot switch between the two devices that's plugged into it, as if its this type that she bought then whatever device is not being used will have to be left in standby or both will clash with each other.

I have a flat screen TV with integral Freeview with 2 hdmi sockets.
I have a virgin media V+ box (Samsung)
I have a Toshiba VCR/DVD combi recorder/player.
I have a Panasonic video player with surround sound.
How are these things interconnected, does anyone know?
So many cable and stuff that I am just messing with trial and error and getting very frustrated.

Just seen your very clear diagram of Nov. 2010 - unfortunately my Sky PlusHD box has only one Scart outlet - how do I connect TV, Sky Box and DVD player (each has only one Scart socket)?
