If you are replacing your TV I would suggest that you consider an integrated digital TV as they use less power than a TV combined with a set-top box. LCD TVs have very good power consumption levels.

Freeview reception can only be reliable received with a roof-top aerial, however you should be able to receive some channels with an indoor aerial, but it needs to be located by the window nearest the transmitter, as it will most definitely not work in a "set-top" position.

You can buy a number of "indoor" aerials that have a booster combined.

Jane Brothbank: The aerial will be your responsibility, but you may have to see permission for access.

If the aerial is shared with others you would have to seek the advice of the managing agent.
