How to Reset a Sky Digibox when 'No Signal' appears.

Reset method 1 - Delete and Rescan

  1. Turn the power off at the mains socket. Either do this by pulling the plug from the socket, or using a power switch if there is one.

  2. Remove the viewing card from the machine. Using a dry cloth or kitchen roll, clean the gold connector on the reverse of the card. Do not use any cleaning products.

  3. Check cables and connectors are in good order.
  4. Wait for at least 30 seconds.
  5. With the card still out of the machine, plug the Digibox back into the mains.
  6. Ignore all the messages, and wait for around a minute.
  7. Try 101 for BBC One, 102 for BBC Two and 103 for ITV-1.
  8. Insert viewing card, wait a few seconds.
  9. Check 104 for Channel 4 and 105 for five.

Reset Method 2 - Reset the LNB

If the above method does not work, the LNB may have a fault.
  1. Press the [SERVICES] button and then press [4] [0] [1] then [SELECT]

On Sky HD, press the [SERVICES] button and then press [0] [0] [1] then [SELECT]

Press the buttons in the sequence above exactly - do not atttempt to use [UP] or [DOWN]. Note that when you press the second 0 and 1 nothing happens on the screen until you press the final [SELECT]. This is a "hidden menu".

  2. Then press [1] to go to the RF output menu.
  3. Press [DOWN] three times to highlight the line 22Khz Command and then press [RIGHT] to change the value to [OFF].
  4. Press [DOWN] and [SELECT] to select Save New Settings.
  5. Press [SKY].
  6. Again press [SERVICES], [4], [0], [1], [SELECT]; then [1] again for the LNB Menu. (SERVICES 0 0 1 SELECT for Sky HD).
  7. Now press the [RED] button (reset all settings), then [DOWN] until you can select Save New Settings again.
  8. Press [SKY].

Reset Method 3 - Upgrade the system software

If there are still problems:

  1. Turn the Digibox off at the mains again and remove the viewing card.
  2. Whilst holding down the BACKUP key on the Digibox - NOT ON THE REMOTE - turn the mains power on.
  3. Keep hold of BACKUP until the screen displays a "UPGRADING SYSTEM SOFTWARE" message – this will be white text on a black screen. On some boxes this can appear as a half screen.

  4. Wait 10 to 20 minutes for the software to download and install. The box will restart when the process is complete.
  5. Ignore all the messages, and wait for around a minute.
  6. Try 101 for BBC One, 102 for BBC Two and 103 for ITV-1.
  7. Insert viewing card, wait a few seconds.
  8. Check 104 for Channel 4 and 105 for five.

Hi All I was wondering, I have an old sky box and was thinking of making use out of it for the upstairs bedroom. I have an old cable coming in from outside in the bedroom and virgin coming from down stairs. I was hoping to be able to set up the sky box to recieve basic channels but when I try an use it it says no signal. I have tried using the cable coming in from the outside but this still doesn't seem to work. Does anyone have any suggestions? Also the sky box says I need a phone line in, surely I don't?

a sky box will noit work on a virgin system (if thats the cable you are attaching it to).
IF your sky box is saying no satellite signal then:
check allthe cable connections, check the satellite dish alignmment, check the LNB on the dish is OK, try another (friends) sky box to make sure it is not your sky box that has gone.
You only need a pjone line for new sky contracts, and if you want to vote or buy things via the TV.

Just found your site and wonder if anyone can advise. Last September I purchased a new Lowre plasma that has built in Freesat. I had a professionally fitted new black dish fitted by a reputable company. When the winter nights came in November the picture signal on BBC News 24, Sky news, Parliment, keep on breaking up. I put this down to aerial needing adjusting angling but when the fitter came back ( not Sky ) He said it was all correct and for a while it has worked OK ish, apart from not receiving Luxe TV HD but I wasn't too bothered about this station. I asked if it could be affected by rain but was told only if rain went in front of the dish. Mon 18th January I could not get CNN so missed Piers Morgan and the picture on Sky news was breaking up with lips and speech out of sinc. The info on the screen said " Hint No Input signal detected at aerial input ( ant sat )" Can anyone advise please, Thanks in advance. Clive Southampton UK

Clive: Either the dish is not correctly aligned, or perhaps the LNB is faulty.

You should not really have accepted the installation without all the channels, including Luxe HD, working.

Just moved Sky box from one room to another but dash input 1 and 2 do not appear to be robust including the connectors. We have tried to improve them with tape but still get either "no satellite signal being received..." or "searching for listings" but getting no further. Any suggestions?

hey donna
what do you mean you can only view basic channels ?????
are all the sky channels there that you pay for and is it just the sky+ features you cannot use.
there is a 2 button reset you can try to restore your hard drive but all recordings will be lost.
if not go into the installers menu and try the system reset 1st.
confirm back what you need please.
