4+: Channel 4 ad-free for 4 pounds a month after free trail
As viewers, we are always faced with a bit a dilemma when it comes to Channel 4: the television service is run by a public-sector not-for-profit corporation (like the BBC) but is funded by adverts.
Which means that it has always been possible to use your VHS or Sky+ box to skip past the adverts: enough people watch them to allow Channel 4 to pay for their shows. According to Channel 4, show The Simpsons, this is "stealing cable".
Online, Channel 4 has always tried – like the other commercial broadcasters – to make you sit though the ads. Which is fair, but unpopular. The All4 service is a poor also-ran service behind the BBC iPlayer and Netflix.
So, you can now sign up for All 4+, which gives most access to online service. For £3.99 a month – after a free trail - you can watch Bake Off without any adverts at all!
The service also works with Chromecast, which is a simple way to pop these shows onto a big screen.
It mostly works: you can’t cast live channels yet, and some shows didn’t work (Bake Off Extra Slice this week, for example).
Pop over to Channel 4 and sign-up for their service.
Then go to My 4, Account Settings, and pick “Manage All 4+”

I don't watch enough on Channel 4 to make it worthwhile. And it would be great to see back in HD format on Freesat.
