Martyn:

You cannot combine satellite and freeview into 1 receiver.

You will need 2 separate receivers.

If you want Freesat you will need a BBC Freesat receiver from argos, currys etc or a sky box with a SKY Freesat card (these cards are from sky).

regards

Martyn : And on the question of being able to receive Freeview from Wenvoe is concerned, judging by that seen on the terrain indicator map would suggest that its not really possible to achieve this due to the signal path from Wenvoe being obstructed in three separate places, and as can be seen by opening the link.

I have sky+ hd box, not used for about two years. Still have the dish. Disconnected wire that orinally went to ground floor. However dish is close to bedroom could i use the remaining cable and reattach the end piece to attach to the box? As such would I need to ring/contact sky, I have the viewing card do want to use to record but give daughter access to tv as we have no other usable aerials.

denise: If the LNB on the dish was fitted with twin outputs for a Sky+ box and you no longer wish to use the recording side of the box then you only require one of the two leads to be connected into the boxes LNB1, therefore the second lead can be used for the other box.

By the way, its not really necessary to contact Sky unless you want to view Sky dedicated programmes that's part of a subscription package on the second box, because if not the other box will operate without a card anyway albeit that the news services will have reverted to London.

denise: I did also mean to add, that if you no longer subscribe to Sky then you would not be be able to use the recording side of the box anyway as Sky will have disabled your access to same from the viewing card, therefore the only purpose it now serves is to provide you with the correct local news for your area.

When the Astra 2E satellite comes on stream which we believe will be early Feb 2014, will BBC and ITV be available on the European band or just the UK band. Will Sky be available on the European band. We have a holiday home in Almeria and currently get Freeview and Sky but are informed that will change after the change over

Stu: No UK based channels on Astra 2 will use the UK spotbeam aimed at the UK and parts of North West Europe. Some subscription Sky channels will use the Pan-European beam which covers a good part of mainland Europe.

Stu, Please put a comma after the 'No' in your reply to Anthony - as it stands the reply is giving the exact opposite of what's going to happen!
