We have an old (about 10 years) sky sat dish connected to a new Bush freesat box. Reception was fine for a few weeks but then it started freezing and pixelating and finally we lost the signal on all channels. Thinking there was something wrong with the box we exchanged it but the problem remained. Oddly it is often fine for 10 or 15 minutes when we first switch it on and then we lose the signal again. We have renewed the connexion at the sat dish end as it was a bit corroded (copper wire) and at the box end as well. It seems unlikely to be the sat box. Do you think it likely to be the sat dish or the cable?

Sylvia - I suspect your dish has moved out of alignment and needs to be peaked with a suitable satellite meter. Another possibility might be a failing LNB (low noise block) amplifier fitted to the end of the boom arm on the dish. It really requires a professional meter to test this item. As it's been fitted for ten years it could also be the bracket fixings that have allowed movement of the dish in poor weather conditions. Doesn't take much to knock the signal off. You may be better getting a reputable local rigger to fix this as he will have a pro meter and this should be up and running fairly quickly.

I would just like to say how much I enjoy this channel. The series 'Enemy at the Door' has been very enjoyable especially as I did not see it the first time round.I was disappointed though when it finished this week-I do hope you are going to show some more later.
Thank you 'yesterday' for some entertaining and informative programmes!

I recently purchased a new tv. As a result i purchased a new high gain digital aerial and also an SLX 8 port amplifier. The new tv works perfectly but i am problems with other tv's. My original tv has a digital freeview box connected too it. The ariel cable that is connected is the original cable before digital services arrived. Initially, i could recieve all channels but i subsequently have lost some. I have done all the reprogramming of the freeview box several times and have lost and gained different channels as a result each time. Another tv that has freeview built in has a difernt problem. The Amplifier is in one loft in my house. When I connect this tv with it's new digital ariel cable through the loft hatch door to the amplifier i recieve the full compliment of channels. But when i then pass the cable through the party wall and into the next loft down into the bedroom below ican only recieve 6 channels. Your help would be much appreciated.

C oldfield: If you have switched over recently, you may have to work without an amplifier, as this may now be overloading your signals.
If the amplifier has "signal level", try turning it down, if it does not, you may have to replace it with a passive splitter device.
