Automatic postcode fixes
I have created an administration facility for UK Free TV that deals with the "automatic postcode" facility that provides links to the mapping, Digital UK trade view and BBC fault reporting system.
The first "feature" is that posts that have provided a postcode as part of the input text now use the provided postcode for the "automatic system". Before, the message creator would have had to put their details into the box at the top right for this postcode to show the automatic links. Only fully validated postcodes (with the usual space between the two parts) work for this.
The second feature is that postcodes that have been stored but do not validate will no longer show the "automatic" links. The invalid postcode is now showing as text at the end of the post.
The third "feature" is that a bug was causing some text inputs to be hidden from the end of posts. All these posts now display their text in full.
Ash: I don't think they have ever appeared - at least they shouldn't have! The post town is a little less .. specific.

Briantist: Ah, what appears to happen is that when you however over a link. For example if you however over Alan's map link/reception link above, the postcode is revealed.

Ash:
The following links only appear by the users posts and others will not see the following by yours posts.
UK Free TV map
BBC Reception test
Digital UK tradeview
Freeview HD
Try visiting the site with two different browsers, EG. Internet Explorer and Google Chrome.
The browser you usually use will display the above links and the other one will not.

With my browsers (IE, Chrome, FireFox, SeaMonkey, ...) it only lists
UK Free TV map
BBC Reception test
Digital UK tradeview
Freeview HD
by my name and not any other post.
What browser are you using?

Ash
Strange.
All other posts except mine don't display links.
None of yours except the last post.
Your links display my postcode.

Mark: I use Internet Explorer.
It seems that the website sucks up a postcode typed into a post and then assumes that is the postcode of the person posting a comment!

I think the reason other people's posts are blank is because they've not entered a postcode on to this site yet, that's all. If you search other pages on this site the same applies to certain posts by other users.

Everyone - I can't obfuscate the postcodes in the URL links, as they are passed to other sites. The "old way" of masking thing using "urlencoding" (such as %41 for "A") is undone by the browser these days for security reasons.
When I last looked into it, as a postcode does not identify a person, but group of several tens of addresses, there are no security problems using them.
