DSO completed for Oxford transmitter group
The Digital Switch Over process for the Oxford transmitter group, serving Oxfordshire and parts of Berkshire and Buckinghamshire, has been successfully implemented by Arqiva.
The public-service multiplexes are now being transmitted at full power from the main station at Oxford and, for the first time, from its five dependent relays at Ascott under Wychwood, Charlbury, Guiting Power, Icomb Hill and Over Norton.
The 'commercial' multiplexes (Oxford only) do not reach their final DSO powers until April 2012, as planned.
Following the analogue switch-off for BBC Two on 14 September, the remaining analogue signals for BBC One, ITV1, Channel 4 and Channel 5 ceased by 00:01 on Wednesday 28 September. The new digital signals entered official service at Oxford at 06:00, with the last of the relays completed by 12:33.

Andrew: Suzanne has a perfectly good external High gain aerial installed in July. The main problem is that since DSO the signal strength is now so high at her location that it could be swamping the receiver. The latest bit of information may throw some light on what is going on.
If you have too high a signal, the most effective (and cheapest solution) is to remove any boosters and/or use attenuators.

Suzanne: check all connections first. You may have a bad connection to the bedroom, hence a reduced signal not swamping the receivers, or a bad connection to the living room causing insufficient signal on the weaker C59. Could be a dodgy splitter. Swap the two leads at the splitter and see what happens.

Chris: I've already tried an "attenuator" but that proved no help whatsoever. But as discovered it's NOT the aerial, or too higher signal strength as the two tv's I have pick up all channels when in the bedroom, but not in the living room, which indicates the "cable" is at fault leading to the living room being connected by the two way splitter. The cable in the bedroom is fine, signals get through perfectly and recieve Ch59. Which is why I'm going to change the co-ax aerial cable and connections, a cheap and hopefully affective result will be the outcome.

Suzanne: Is the splitter in a plastic case or a metal one? If metal (a good quality type), make sure it's the right way round - they provide large attenuation in one direction - between what should be the two outputs.

Suzanne: I can see why you think that's the case, but it's not conclusive I'm afraid. If your idea was backed up by continuity (or lack thereof) tests with a meter - fine. Read my 3.58pm post again carefully and my 4.01pm - it's all worth checking first, then when you tell me I told you so, I won't mind :)).
