We subsribe to sky+hd on our main tv which we are staying with but have a multiroom subscription on a separate tv that is just standard. We want to get rid of the multiroom subscription at £10.25 a month and change it to freesat, is this easy to do? Do we need a new box or can we use the multiroom box?

Natalie Kay: If you stop paying for Multiroom, the box will become fSfS ("Freesat from Sky") automatically. You don't need to do anything at all.

I have just read that sky are changing their veiwing cards, so presumably this is another catch although someone told me this was to get the full channel five service on freesat from sky.

Gill:
Channel 5 (Standard Deffination) stoped being encreypted in November 2008.
So you can view Channel 5 on any satelite box for free with out aqny card.
Channel 5 HD is encrypted and you can only view it with a Sky HD box and viewing card.
Sky last updated their cards in Sepember 2009 unless they are still upgrading their old cards.

Mark A.: Well, some advertising regions of Channel 5 are only available encrypted, but C5 don't do any regional programming. It just means you only get London advertising on Freesat or other free-to-air receivers.
I don't see why anything going free-to-view should require new cards. They should only issue new cards if the encryption scheme for the whole system is compromised, in which case you would lose access to all encrypted channels (free or subscription) if you didn't get a new card.

Mike Dimmick:
Apart from the adverts, there is no difference unlike the BBC or ITV regions.
But as I try not to look at the adverts and only the programs, I stopped searching once I found one of the Channel 5 stations.
Some of Channel 5 sister channels are encrypted thou.
EG. 5*, 5*+1, 5USA and 5USA+1.
