Freesat - subtitles, ITV4, ITVHD (for UTV and STV)
To complete this years Freesat upgrades, you can now watch ITV4+1 on Freesat - it appears in the programme guide at 118 (for fSfS and Sky viewers it is 180).
In addition, you can now use the subtitle button on BBC HD for high definition subtitles.
If you set up your Freesat postcode to be in the STV or UTV areas, you cannot access ITV HD directly: there is a workaround, channel 977 will give you ITV London and then, via the red button, ITV HD.

I was talking to them and they said that they might be on freesat in 6 weeks but not sky until end of this year early next because I complained to office OFT and OFCOM and told them that UTV has been put on astra 1n witch been designed for HD and 3D TV broadcasts and why is UTV on that ASTRA 1N for because it is not in HD and wasted of space on ASTRA 1N and by the look of it they have agreed with me on that and may have done something about this and why they are not going on to sky is that sky due DSO

Conor: Astra 1N is a satellite, which is intended to replace (for a while) the Astra 2D satellite, which is being decommissioned due to age.
Satellite transponders are just "transponders" in the sense that they take a signal sent from the Earth Station on the ground and relay it back, but they are not "for" anything. They can be used for SD, HD or 3D services, anything at all.
Almost all HD services are using the DVB-S2 signalling system, as this provides extra capacity for services, but cannot be seen by DVB-S receivers, so can't be used for SD services.
I would be interesting to hear Ofcom's wording about forcing UTV onto satellite in HD.
