Do I need a filter to protect my Freeview from Everything Everywhere 4G masts?
Brian Butterworth published on UK Free TV Back in June 2011, we reported that Ofcom moves to protect Freeview interference from 4G mobile devices.
This week has seen the launch of the first 4G (fourth generation, also know as Long Term Evolution, LTE) mobile telephone network from Everything Everywhere - which formed from the merger of T-Mobile and Orange.
The good news is that the EE network is not using the '"800MHz band" frequencies, but the 1800MHz it previously used for mobile phones.
This means that the service, which is due to work in London, Edinburgh, Cardiff, Belfast, Birmingham, Bristol, Derby, Glasgow, Hull, Leeds, Liverpool, Manchester, Newcastle, Nottingham, Sheffield and Southampton by the end of 2012 and reach 70% population coverage in 2013, with 98% covered by 2014, will not cause loss of Freeview.
However, it is possible that EE will win part of the 800MHz band during the Ofcom 4G auction, and EE services using 800MHz will cause the predicted problems.

I live in Chandlers Ford, Hampshire and have lost all my televion reception on Freeview. Who do I contact please to rectify this, and how long will I be without television?

While my main tv can still receive BBC A ch62, all other tvs around the house now show no signal. Has the power output from winter hill been decreased from Monday 12th November?

I live in TW1 1AR and have lost all my Freeview signal as well since the launch of 4G. Coincidence?

Unless the mobile operator in question is broadcasting illegally on the 800MHz spectrum which hasn't yet been auction off! This is that which is closest to TV frequencies and therefore possibly a likely source of interference.

Hi i have just been talking to a guy who works for vision and they are predicting problems with 5-6 million households with LTE interferance, they are also saying that alot of the filters etc will not work if you are within a certain distance of a 4G mast as they will be putting out 150db on channel 61 upwards.He also mentioned that any coax that isnt copper shielded will also be useless as the screening will be no good.If this is all true that means a massive problem for a great deal of the country who choose to watch TV via Freeview.

isn't freeview the bbc,
which is the tv licence
which is the law
which should send everybody with a licence a filter
needed or not,
they should have had to supply all with freeview set top box's
since full digi switch over!!!!!!
so i pay loads for the priviledge,then piss in the wind.....

Since the 29th May work on Waltham transmitter I have not been able to get any BBC programs on my WinTv pc card It was working perfectly before this work now it is useless..
Digital Freeview was going to be the answer to reception problems...what a joke we have had more interruptions to viewing since we were FORCED to change.....
