New channel coming to Freeview - Drama from 8 July
Freeview slot 20 25 (more than likely, replacing Dave Ja Vu) will be filled with a new channel from 8th July 2013, which will be a BBC version of the hugely popular ITV3.
With shows such as Tipping The Velvet, Cranford and Lark Rise To Candleford, Jane Austen's Pride And Prejudice (and the odd programme from ITV, such as Catherine Cookson's The Cinder Path and Sean Bean-fronted Sharpe).
Lark Rise To Candleford
"There's a great deal of fantastic content that the Freeview audience hasn't been able to see for a long time," said UKTV controller Emma Tennant.
Drama channel controller Adrian Wills adds "You might think that with 10 channels there's a lot of space to showcase classic drama but, in fact, the channels we have are quite specific, so there was no real space to show the deeper archive. When you look at who else is doing classic drama, it's only ITV3, and it does fantastically well so there's room for more than one".
Freeview only or will it be on satellite?

PJH: That's true for all of UKTV's channels: Dave, Really, Yesterday and now Drama.
Especially given that UKTV is half-owned by the BBC, and the other half by Scripps who's Food Network is on Freeview, Freesat and fSfS.

Regarding the new Drama channel (25) commencing on 8th July 2013, as it will be run by the BBC, will we be able to receive it on the Newhaven transmitter (which is the reduced public service channels only)?
Also- the (unwanted) channels Rabbit and Gay Rabbit seem to have disappeared from the Newhaven Transmitter. Is this correct or is there a danger of them appearing again.

Re: BT Sport 1 and 2. (August 2O13 football season) Are there plans for these channels to be made available to Top_Up TV (DTV) customers in the same way that ESPN and SkySports are at present? Would be grateful if anyone with information could assist me with this. Thanks!

Ian Farrow: The Dave Ja Vu slot it on multiplex COM4/SDN, which is where Drama is expected to be.
The BBC are not allowed to use the PSB1 multiplex for "commercial" services provided by the BBC Worldwide/Scripts joint-venture.

Stephen Alden: I understand from BT that they will make their channels as widely available as possible.
However, as we don't know yet for sure where the Freeview capacity for the BT Sports channels is, it is possible that BT has obtained the capacity on the Freeview HD multiplex, PSB3/BBCB.
If this is the case, it won't be compatible with existing TUTV equipment.

Sheffield
On freeview, one set of channels has a very weak signal (so are impossible to watch) or sometimes don't appear when I retune both my HD digi box and HD TV, this has been the case for a few weeks now I think. The channels involved are the set that includes Yesterday and ITV4. Is there anything I can do? I live in Sheffield city Centre S1 postcode. Thanks
