Map of all FM, MW and LW transmitters
You can click on a transmitter group symbol to see all the masts in that county or area, or click on a single transmitter to see the coverage area. Due to the large number of radio transmitters, many have been grouped into counties or administrative areas for ease of viewing.Showing transmitters in Isle Of Wight, England

unknown: Maybe switchover to DAB is coming sooner than we thought.

unknown/Dave Lindsay: Sorry, Ofcom made a slight change to the format of the "CSV" files which are the source for these pages (changed line ends from CRLF to CR).
The file is picked up automatically once a day.
I have fixed the code to deal with the new format, so the pages are now restored.

Since my last blog relating to TWYN( AM) Radio 5 transmitter around february. I note the depth of modulation has again been reduced which now requires the volume control to be turned up almost full to get an acceptable listening level i note that radio wales as a comparison is consistent in its amplitude considering it is further away from my newquay location and the volume level is exactly the same as it as always been,i read with interest today that back in the 1980s during transmitter changes from AM to FM the BBC admit that the AM broadcast powers are reduced etc to (ENCOURAGE) the population to move onto the (new) broadcast medium of (FM) i can see this now being repeated moving us from (AM) to (DAB) with its 64kbps bit rate (poor quality sound) when compared to (FM) on a happier note all the (AM FM) radios handed in against the purchase of a shiny new (DAB) radio are going to be exported to poorer parts of the world ,why cant we be given the choice of (AM FM DAB) as we have now .

Does anyone listen to medium wave (MW) now? After dark it tends to sound "hossily" (whining background noise) which you don't get on FM. Why not switch off MW and use the bandwidth for extra DAB coverage?
Also, why not turn off the complete VHF/FM analogue radio 88 to 108, and reuse that space for extra DAB coverage?

Nicholas Willmott, I totally agree with you I wish they would do exactly as you say, MW is completely useless.

I've noticed tonight you don't appear to have the Gold 1260KHz MW AM transmitter off Townfield Lane in Farndon just inside the English border near Wrexham on your website.
