Map of all DAB transmitters

You can click on a transmitter group symbol to see all the masts in that county or area, or click on a single transmitter to see the coverage area. Due to the large number of radio transmitters, many have been grouped into counties or administrative areas for ease of viewing.

What do the map symbols mean?

DAB radio transmitter,  DAB transmitter coming,  Transmitter group.

Please can you tell me when the DAB transmitter for Leicester be operational? What is meant by DAB coming (out of area).

Best Regards

Mick Jones: The information on this site is from Ofcom. Which page does it say "DAB coming (out of area)" as it isn't this one? Knowing that might allow some context to your question as on the above map there is no "out of area" and only a "coming soon" for Leicester.

Mick Jones/Dave Lindsay: If you select a DAB or FM map for a given area (city, county, UA or similar) then the map will also show current and planned transmitters that are close to, but not actually in the selected area.

So a map of East Sussex or will show planned DAB transmitters in West Sussex, for example.

Mick Jones: We don't know exact operational dates, only that they are "planned".

I have looked at the map for DAB masts, the one showing for Leicester says DAB coming soon but is identified with a black cross with a grey background, the symbol interpretation identifies DAB coming (out of area), what does this mean.

Best Regards

I have recently noticed that I cannot get any dab chanels on my portable dab radio at all. I live in Derby and have always been able to recieve a few. Everything that shows are symbols and numbers and 'not available'. Why is this?

Samantha, Derby:

If you have only been able to receive a few in the past and not the full service available this would suggest reception is marginal in the location of your DAB radio, with a marginal signal you will always be open to loss of stations, although it has been working ok loss of service can happen at any time with a marginal signal.

To rectify this you should try the radio in a different part of the room, failing that, you may need a DAB antenna installed at your home.
