The problem could be one of:

- the aerial has been moved or damaged;

- the cables or connectors that connect the digibox to the aerial are damaged;

- the digibox has broken.

If you have a "spare" digibox you use this to test the aerial connection. Can you still watch analogue TV OK?

Disconnect the mains supply to the box for at least 5 minutes. Then reconnect it and wait a further 5 minutes whilst it sets itself up again. Then check whether it is working.

If it is not then return it to where you bought it so they can check it and repair/replace it as needed. Under the current consumer legislation they are responsible for ensuring it works (not the manufacturer) and replacing it if it has failed.

I know a number of people in the machynlleth area that are experiencing poor or no reception. The transmitter website states there are not technical problems but I know at least 5 people with this problem which has been occurring over the last couple of weeks.
Please advise

Annie: Although there can be unresolved or unrecognised technical issues, they tend to sorted out fairly quickly.

On the other hand, I have no idea what transmitter your using, what might between any of the people you've mentioned and the transmitter (are they using the correct one?), the state of their aerial systems, etc.

Put it this way - if only 1 out of a 1000 people are having a 'problem' with their TV reception (whatever that might actually mean), then in even a small catchment like a light transmitter of say 10k, thats 10 people have a problem - and you might have spoke to half of them.
Add stuff like weather, and there are lots of variables. But the chances are it their systems, and there probably isn't a common cause.

Scott W Ashworth:

Please check all your aerial connections, a poor connection is the most common cause of such problems.

Our main tv in the lounge has perfect reception. We have a small tv in the kitchen which runs off the same aerial. This has always been good but has suddenly stopped receiving half the channels. I have retuned the TVs and the Goodman's recording box several times but it's still the same. We are on the Waltham transmitter and I've checked for any problems.

Sue Huskisson: Retuning will never fix a problem with a weak or non existent signal as the TV was already correctly tuned and all you've achieved is to potentially delete the missing channels. If both TVs are fed from the same aerial but one isn't working then you have a fault with the cable going from the splitter/amplifier to that TV. If you've checked all the cabling and connections yourself without success then it's time to call in a professional.

I have signal lost on all channels for several days at a time it then comes back which would suggest it`s not my antenna or connections that are at fault, I`m on the Craigkelly transmitter, post code FK8 3TQ, Aberfoyle.

George Steele.
