MikeP: Supposedly so - I can't say I've ever tried it! The sprat is one of might favourite varieties of fish! Richard. By the way, commercial station DAB multiplexes returned around here just after 3:30 p.m., having been off since 5 a.m. It was the same broadcasters' Virgin Media run feed to DAB transmitters problem that we had back in January! John Hammond: Hi John. You probably didn't know that Beccles now has its own DAB relay on the water tower in South Road near John Leman. This only carries the BBC national stations at present. There is a powerful DAB transmitter at Mendlesham, South of Diss, which also contributes to the DAB signals received in Beccles. It carries BBC Nationals, Commercial Nationals and the Norfolk local stations. There are other transmitters in Sudbury, Bury, Woodbridge, Ipswich, Felixstowe & Blythburgh for example, but, of these only Blythburgh is likely to add to your Beccles DAB reception. Blythburgh carries BBC Nationals, Commercial Nationals but not the Norfolk locals. Hope these comments answer the question, " are there any other sites in Suffolk that might be working please? " A relay in Halesworth is due for completion by the end of October. I think that this will be BBC Nationals only - at least initially, anyway. All of the info. Garry: Hi, Garry. The BBC, the main transmission company, the commercial multiplex operators and the local multiplex operators are all working together to improve DAB coverage in preparation for the Government decision for digital radio switchover when the national stations on FM will be switched off, so they won't live much longer I'm afraid! The Government decision will be made when 50% of radio listening is digital (nearly that now) and coverage is the same as FM, especially in vehicles. The latest phase of transmission improvements will be finished by the end of October and so a Government switchover decision is likely in early 2017 perhaps, with actual switchover occurring a year or two later? Yesterday's problems were the result of a failure in the optical fibre link owned by Virgin Media, this link supposedly carrying the broadcasters' programme feeds to the transmitters! KMJ,Derby: Hi, KMJ. Here in Norwich we have our local tv service Mustard TV on 7, but I gather that other cities that have a local tv service on Freeview have migrated theirs from 7 to 8?

Harry: Hi, Harry. Being something of a radio 'geek' ('anorak'), myself, I actually collect radios! I'm one of a small minority in the UK who listens to BBC Radio 4 on Long Wave. I use FM or DAB when I want to listen to a station that's not on A.M., but around here we can get 'Smooth Radio' on 'AM' from Brundall, just outside Norwich and Absolute or 'talkSPORT' from Postwick, also just outside Norwich. I'm not particular interested in high audio quality; I've always liked the 'mellow' sound that emanates from the speaker of an A.M. radio. The only issue I sometimes have indoors is electrical interference, but, apart from that I receive strong A.M. signals, being sufficiently lucky as not to experience 'crackles', perhaps because I've taken a number of measures to optimise the A.M. signals entering the flat! Paul Beales: Vintage TV is NOT YET on Freeview, but it is coming to Freeview SHORTLY. Apparently there is a way of getting it if you have FreeSAT. One of the other posts on Vintage TV on this website describes exactly how you do this. it involves a MANUAL tune using these details:-

Freeview Channel 86
When Vintage TV goes on air on Freeview it WILL BE on Channel 86, but at the moment Freeview Channel 86 is QVC+1 until Vintage TV takes over the channel shortly. Hope this helps,

Charlie Arnold: Hi, Charlie. Mendip has warned viewers that there will be a weak signal today, so, if I were you, I'd hang on until they put Mendip back on full power, rather than go to the trouble of rotating your aerial over what is only a temporary issue.
