ITV1+1 11 January 2011 (at last) | TV channels

Andrew you have lost ITV2 + 1 so I wouldn't loose too much sleep over it. I just wish all the logos would disappear from all channels as the +1 channel logos in particular as they take up half the top left hand side of the screen and are really distracting, especially during dark moody scenes in a drama. We are not stupid and have info buttons on our remotes to remind us, if by some small chance, we are stupid.

Why does every news and sports programme have a PRESS RED or SPORTS RED button logo throughout its duration on Freeview when we all know that the interactive crap, which very few us bother with, is on Ch 301. Why not just treat 301 as a separate channel with its own listings. I tune in to news and sport to watch news and sport not a PRESS RED button !!! I know I can press GREEN to get rid of it but not if I record remotely and its a real pain anyway every time the news is on. Luckily Newsnight viwers are not troubled at the moment anyway.

PS : Nice to hear the BBC WORLD SERVICE in (((( STEREO )))) on BBC Radio 4 FM last night (albeit recorded using my trusty old plug timer) as opposed to BBC WORLD SERVICE's own DAB channel which is in MONO of course.

Even on Freeview and on line BBC World Service is in mono but on BBC Radio 4 it's in stereo, with different sounds coming out of each speaker (the acid test).

So not only are people bankrupting the nation by getting into debt with credit cards they can't pay off, they are now being encouraged to get into even more debt using their TV, terrific. Oh look here comes the double dip !!

Are here any FreeSat hard drive (inc disc) recorders that allow you to edit programmes post recordings similar to the Toshiba Freeview version ?

RE 160 DAB TRANSMITTERS When you say DAB will cover the same parts of the country as FM, are you taking into account areas where FM is weak but FM sound can still be heard, albeit with a bit of hiss ? In the case of DAB, however, when the signal dips, you hear absolutely nothing, thus losing the programme altogether in those areas, or worse that horrible squelchy noise. Even inside a specific buiding DAB has trouble using a telescopic aerial needing a fixed aerial to get a decent signal in a significant number of already established regions covered by DAB, making radios much less portable than FM. This is also the case when out with pocket DAB radios in rural areas. I live in a very good reception area (North Macclesfield) but the DAB signal even for BBC channels using a telescopic areas varies from 100% to 47%, depending on which room I'm in (the ground floor being the worst). To overcome this I have a good directional DAB external aerial on the roof, which picks up quite a few regional multiplexes outside my local area including Stoke, Lancashire and Liverpool (as well as Manchester, which is my local region), but not BBC Cymru/Wales which booms in on FM (104.3MHz and 95.4MHz).

Is Ed Vaizey is keeping FM for both Local & National radio or just Local ?

Better static than nothing, as will be the case in the Manifold Valley, unless it gets its own brand new DAB transmitter, which considering its very low population is very doubtful. I guess there will be quite a few other such areas but only time will tell. Still there's always RTE Radio 1 which booms in on 252 kHz Long Wave ???
