You will need an external DVB Freeview set-top box and take video and audio from it into a suitable AV input(probably SCART) on the SLV-D980P GI recorder. Timings will have to be set manually on the recorder unless the source can be changed when the codes you mention can be changed but the set-top box will haveto be left tuned to the required service for the duration. Playback from the recorder to your analogue TV will still be possible although direct(non-channelised RF connection) through another SCART lead is to be preferred.

Rebecca Damm - using your freeview TV as a recording source is certainly possible. I had a Hitachi TV with analogue and digital tuners and it was possible to setup the digital tuner to activate when the TV was in standby so an external recorder, which was also programmed to cover the same timeslot, could record the programme without human intervention and the CRT circuitry(!) remaining dormant. Careful reading of the TV manual may show this to be possible in your case.

Accepting it's not perfect, will we still get the BBC widescreen testcard using the same key sequence on our remotes as at present or will that be lost? It is useful just to make sure LCD sets are doing their best.

Tempo FM will soon be moving its transmitter site to higher ground just south of Collingham on the above map. Ofcom has said we must use a directional antenna which will have 6dB less signal in an arc roughly between south and west and forward gain of 3dB towards Wetherby. Our transmitter power to the antenna will be adjusted to maintain 25watts ERP vertically polarised in the direction of Wetherby and is our legal limit. There will be no change of frequency and we anticipate more uniform coverage in the Wetherby area.
Mike Davison. I'm one of the station trustees.

Andy - this link Dish Installation for Astra 2 at 28.2° East & Eutelsat 28A at 28.5° East shows you the footprints of the Freesat satellites at 28.2 and 28.5 degrees east. Note the comments about the tight UK only beams.

Just for the record, in Wetherby, Bilsdale ch26 is receivable off the back of my loft mounted Emley Moor antenna(which is a wide-band type) at 23% signal and 90-100% quality on my Humax PVR and so is quite usable. Analogue reception off the back of this antenna was unwatchable. I'm looking forward to DSO2 at Bilsdale. Also according to your maps for Emley coverage, I am outside of its 'green' area. Wrong! I have had solid reception of all mpx's pre- and post-DSO with HD.

Not a complaint but an observation since Bilsdale went high power. I use Emley Moor OK but as the quality of signals I get from Bilsdale off the rear of the Emley antenna(Wide band BTW) is good but variable, after an auto re-scan I get the choice of areas to use on my Humax HDR-Fox T2. All well and good you may think. Yes - until I use a red button service when I find that '302' is actually using a Bilsdale channel in the 800 area. Is this a Humax problem or a broadcaster's problem? Until it's sorted I have done a complete factory default, stopped its auto-scan and manually scanned the Emley channels.

Sshh! Don't tell anyone but subtitles are still using teletext on page 888 on satellite on both SD and HD channels of the BBC. My satellite receiver is non-Sky and non-Freesat. On Astra 19.2east most services SD and HD still use standard teletext. Why do we ditch things for the sake of it?

No they are all digital services including BBC HD aand BBC1 HD. There are no analogue services left on Astra 19.2east and I don't think there ever were analogue services on Astra 28.2east. There appear to be two sets of subtitles transmitted as my Pace HD satellite box has text accessed through an options menu box with one fontstyle and text through page 888 with the typical blocky teletext fontstyle.

Oh and I forgot to mention that only £3 of that licence fee went to the BBC, £2 for TV and £1 for radio. HM treasury took the other £1.
