Rob, I'm 10 miles outside Colchester and get all channels without difficulty (as I used to do when I lived in Highwoods, Colchester).

Do you have an external aerial?

Just on the offchance that more people will get to see it, the link below is to a list of Freeview STBs and iDTVs that will NOT WORK after DSO because they cannot cope with the new 8k) transmission mode.

I've just discovered that my elderly Aunt's 32" CRT Panasonic is on the list so planning for yet another STB commences!

Check the list for all your kit. (SG192EB)

Thanks for the link to this site's incompatible kit list Briantist.

Just another point for readers - in the case of my elderly relative's Panasonic iDTV (a TX-32DT2), I contacted Panasonic by email (customer.care@panasonic.co.uk) and, after confirning that the iDTV could not be modified internally for 2k/8k working, offered a payment of up to £25 (against printed or emailed proof of purchase) for the purchase of ANY Freeview set top box to enable continued use of the iDTV.

Whether other manufacturers will be as generous I don't know but I have my cheque! (TQ2546538159).

I wonder whether PPP (Private Patients Plan) are paying Ofcom to place their logo on screen?

Not sure you're right about the TX power levels KMJ,Derby.

I don't see any mention of Arquiva A being restrcited to 3kW and, in fact, my reading of http://stakeholders.ofcom.org.uk/binaries/broadcast/guidance/tech-guidance/Anglia.pdf is that, from DSO2 on 20/7/11, 4 out of 5 of Sudbury's SD muxes will operate at 100kW with the other (SDN on UHF 49) being restricted to 14kW.

From 16/11/11, Arquiva B will move to UHF 63 and then operate at only 2.2kW until 27/1/212 (when it changes to UHF 56). (PE113YR)

Sorry, that last paragraph shoul've read:

From 16/11/11, Arquiva B will move to UHF 63 and then operate at only 2.2kW until 27/6/2012 (when it changes to UHF 56).

Yes, Dale, I fully appreciate the 3kW information is on here and experience suggests it's likely to be accurate.

However, the 25/5/11 Ofcom Issue 3.0 PDF make no mention (AFAICS) of that 3kW restriction.

I may have missed it but I did a word search for '3kW' and found nothing (whereas a search for '2.2kW' did find that in relation to the temporary use of UHF 63 later this year).

I've just tried a Google search for "Sudbury 2kW" too - and the only results are to text on this site (i.e. there's nothing on official sites).

Bearing in mind that this is a private site run solely by Brian and that he's on holiday for 2 weeks now, it's not possible to ask him where he got the information from.

DSO1 @ Sudbury will be imminent anyway by the time her gets back but I'm sure he'll pick up on this.

The 3 COM multiplxes (SDN, ArqA & ArqB) at Sudbury, currently on UHF channels 49+, 54 and 50+, will not go to full (100kW) power until they change to their final channel allocations (58, 60- and 56) on 27 June 2012.

However, ArqB will move to a temporary channel (63) on 16 November this year but, if you can't receive them now, it's likely you'll have to wait until 27 June 2012.

Can I suggest you call someone's mobile and leave a message with all the information on their voicemail?
