Susie Dove:
For any contributor to this website to offer meaningful assistance, we would need to know your location (by giving a post code or that of a nearby public building) and what equipment you are using.
Depending on those being provided, further assistance may be available.

Nigel O'Connor:
It is very unlikely to be a fault at the transmitter, but much more likely due to recent weather conditions. Do NOT try a retune under these circumstances.

How do I change the RF output channel on a Sky Digibox? | Help!Wednesday 18 November 2015 1:10PM
Trowbridge
j .b.smith:
It would appear that you are using the RF Out connection from your Sky box rather than any SCART or HDMI connection. In which case there is no legal requirement for any particular channel to be used, it normally being chosen to avoid causing or receiving signals from other sources and hence causing or suffering interference. I very much doubt Sky would have officially said it was illegal to use ch28 for your RF output, the RF modulator, where fitted, is capable of being tuned to any UHF channel from 21 to 68 (though I am uncertain whether that applies to the 'add-on' RF boxes needed by many Sky HD boxes to provide an RF output). It is more likely that a 'call centre' operative has misunderstood the issue.
4G signals are transmitted currently in the range ch60 to 68, so if your RF output had been set close to anything in that range you will have experienced some interference from such if they are in reasonable proximity to your location. By adjusting the RF output channel to one well outside that range will have helped alleviate the problem. But you also need to avoid the channels used by any Freeview transmitter in your area, a list for each transmitter is provided elsewhere on this website. Else you can put you post code into this site and then see the details of the recommended transmitter for your area.

TruthBeSaid:
But Briantist has previous;y explained why that would not be a viable option. It's too expensive to operate (ask Sky) and few TV sets currently have the facility to unscramble the signals.

Jean Pocklington :
It would assist contributors if you provided a post code so we could investigate the transmission path from your preferred transmitter to your location.
As your neighbour appear to also suffer the same problem it is likely that there is some common factor.
Unfortunately, Holiday TV is not listed above, but it may well be amongst the 'other' channels (clicking on the 'link' does not show what 'other' actually refers to). It is just possible that it may be being transmitted on an HD multiplex (though without any clear listing it is difficult to be sure) in which case you will need a full HD TV (not just an 'HD Ready' type).

BT Sport is a subscription channel and is not available to non-subscribers or non-BT Internet customers. If you do not use BT Internet as your ISP and do not subscribe to the service you will be told there is no signal.

Peter:
I worked as a Senior Engineer for a TV Rental company back then and was selected by the BBC in 1977 to conduct various tests on the then fledgling service. Once the equipment was set up correctly, and the aerial aligned to minimise any ghosting, the system worked reasonably well. Over the years it was improved considerably and became much more reliable, though symbol drop-out was always a problem in some locations with signal reception problems that were acceptable to the picture but caused teletext (the generic term for all such services) to be less reliable.
I've always found the Red Button text service to be lacking in content, it had/has much less that the earlier teletext (Oracle, Ceefax and later Teletext) services provided.

LCN (logical channel number) 82 was Sky News but is being changed over to be True Christmas, see
True Christmas | Freeview There is a link provided on that page to check coverage in your area. Not all tranmitters will carry the service, they say only 'major towns and cities' will get it.

Alexei Romanov:
If you look at theposting above yours, and assuming your are using the Black Hill transmitter, then the possible weak signals will cause just what you are experiencing. Do not perform a retune else you will lose programmes and have to do another retune once the work has been completed.

We ned a post code so we can examione which transmitter you should be using and whether there are any likely disturbances in your area. Without that it is impossible to assist.
